Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza is a first-person shooter based off of the 1988 action movie Die Hard for Microsoft Windows . The game originally used a modified Build engine, later the GoldSrc engine, before it was finally moved to the Lithtech engine. The game features the voice of Reginald VelJohnson, reprising his role as Al Powell.
The following weapons appear in the video game Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza:
Handguns
Beretta 92F
Everyone agrees, that a Die Hard video game would be incomplete without a Beretta 92F pistol. This is McClane's starting weapon, and is also used by Hans (instead of the H&K P7 seen in the film). The Beretta uses 17-round flush fit magazines, which is inaccurate (the Beretta 92F uses 15-round magazines). When switching to the 92F, McClane pulls the slide. When switching away from the Beretta, McClane will de-cock the hammer before holstering it. Secondary fire is the melee attack. It shares ammo with the MP5N.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5N
The H&K MP5N is the main automatic weapon used by the terrorists. The game features a real MP5, unlike the film where chopped HK94s stood in for authentic MP5s. The MP5 in the game is also incorrectly modeled with the cocking handle on the right side of the weapon. It shares ammo with the Beretta 92F.
Rifles / Carbines
Colt Model 733
The Colt Model 733 is mainly seen in the hands of SWAT officers and some bad guys. It is fitted with an A1E1 upper receiver and M16-style fixed stock. Utilizes 20-rounder, angled magazines (although, on the HUD it is shown with a 30-rounder mag). Shares ammo with the AUG.
Steyr AUG A1
The Steyr AUG A1 is powerful and accurate, significantly better than the MP5N. The secondary fire toggles the scope. When using the scope, the gun becomes semi-auto only. The in-game Steyr AUG sports a black stock while Karl's AUG in the movie has the khaki stock.
Machine Guns
M60E3
An M60E3 is used by Fritz, and later by a terrorist raining down hell on the police in front of the Nakatomi building. This is a stand in for the scene where Alexander turns Sergeant Powell's car into "swiss cheese" and when he shoots out the lights with the M60E3 in the movie.
Other
Model 7290 Flashbang Grenade
The Model 7290 flashbang grenade is used by terrorists very often.
Custom Rocket Launcher
The custom rocket launcher seen in the film is also present in the game. The terrorist uses it to take out a SWAT APC. In the movie, the launcher is fired twice, but only once in the game.
