A Dandy in Aspic is a 1968 neo-noir Cold War spy thriller based on Derek Marlowe's 1968 novel, filmed on location in London and West Berlin following a British double agent played by Laurence Harvey who is hired to kill a Soviet assassin that turns out to be himself. When director Anthony Mann died during production, Harvey took over directing himself.
The following firearms were used in the film A Dandy in Aspic:
Handguns
FN Model 1910
Pavel (Per Oscarsson) carries an FN Model 1910, which Eberlin (Laurence Harvey) handles on screen and in promotional artwork for the film.
M1911A1
British intelligence agent Copperfield (Norman Bird) draws his M1911A1 before pursuing a Soviet operative in London.
Smith & Wesson Model 40
Eberlin (Laurence Harvey) keeps a Smith & Wesson Model 40 as his primary sidearm, typically carried in a coat pocket.
Tokarev TT-33
Many Tokarev TT-33 pistols are handled throughout A Dandy in Aspic. MI6 agent Brogue (Calvin Lockhart) tests one in the basement gun range, handing it to Eberlin (Laurence Harvey) who uses it to fire a shot in Gatiss' direction. Several Russian agents, including Henderson (John Bird), also carry the Tokarev.
Rifles
SKS
Guards at the border between East and West Berlin carry SKS rifles.
Other
Cane gun
As seen in James Bond films like the Climax! TV adaptation of Casino Royale and The World is Not Enough, a cane gun is prominently used in the world of espionage, in this case as the preferred weapon of Gatiss (Tom Courtenay).
