Alan Ladd (1913-1964) was an American actor well known for his role as the title character in the 1953 Western ''[[Shane]]''.  He also appeared in such films as ''[[This Gun for Hire]]'' and ''[[The Blue Dahlia]]''. He also was the father of noted American movie executive Alan Ladd, Jr and movie producer/actor David Ladd.
