Edward Hardwicke was an English actor whose career spanned almost seventy years. Probably his longest running role was that of Dr. John Watson (to Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes) in the Granada television serials based on Arthur Conan Doyle's stories (a role originally played by David Burke).
