The '''Mannlicher Model 1905''' is a pistol, belongs to the family of semi-auto pistols, designed by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher since 1899 and produced in Austria by [[Steyr]]. The Mannlicher Model 1900 was chambered in an 8mm cartridge, but improved '''Model 1901''' was made for the 7.63mm Mannlicher round to make it more powerful. The '''Model 1905''' was a larger frame version with a 10-round capacity magazine. This pistol was the official sidearm of the Argentine Army as the ''Modelo 1905''. All of these models have the same basic design and operation, but minimal adjustments were made to improve each of them. Just 4,000 of Model 1901 and over 10,000 of Model 1905 were manufactured. This is a well made handguns with excellent balance and finish. If it found on the second-hand market, an example will command fairly high prices. Sometimes seen in European productions.

In order to distinguish 7.63mm Mannlicher round from the 7.63mm Mauser round, it was referred to in Germany as the "7.65 round", or the 7.63x21.
The Spanish firm Garate Anitua y Cia also manufactured the ''La Lira'' pistol, the improved copy of the Mannlicher M1901 for a brief period around 1910. It is was chambered for the .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) round and used a detachable box magazine. The La Lira was also a simple blowback action instead the slight delaying mechanism of the original Mannlicher. Only 500-1000 of these pistols were made in total.
