The Suffering: Ties That Bind is the sequel to the 2004 cult horror game, The Suffering. It was developed by Surreal Software and published by Midway in 2005 for the Xbox, PS2 and PC.
The game continues the story of Torque, a man sentenced to death for murdering his ex-wife and two children. In the original game, after arriving on death row in Abbot State Penitentiary on Carnate Island, off the coast of Maryland, an earthquake rocks the island, and the prison is attacked by strange supernatural creatures. During the mayhem, Torque escapes. Ties That Bind continues his story, as he flees the island and heads back to his home town of Baltimore, where he must face his past misdeeds, and confront his nemesis, a mysterious criminal kingpin known as Blackmore. Players who have a saved game from The Suffering can choose one of three different openings, based upon the ending they received in the first game. As with the original game, Ties That Bind also features three different endings, depending on the players' actions throughout the game.
Ties That Bind received favorable reviews, but was generally criticized as being too similar to the original game.
The following weapons are used in the video game The Suffering: Ties That Bind:
Handguns
M1911
The M1911 appears in the game. It has several advantages over the Colt Python gameplay wise, the more obvious being a better capacity and a quicker fire rate. It also shares ammo with the Grease Gun.
Colt Python
The Colt Python is the first firearm encountered in the game. It is a good choice due to it's ammo being relatively bountiful, surprisingly so for a horror game.
Submachine Guns
M1921 Thompson
The M1921 Thompson is returned from the previous game, and, oddly enough, keeps 30 rounds in a 50-round magazine.
Sa. Vz.61 Skorpion
The Sa. Vz.61 Skorpion appears as "Skorpion" and this is the weakest submachine gun in the game, but it makes up for this by it being the only SMG the player can dual-wield.
M3A1 Grease Gun
An M3A1 Grease Gun is used by The Foundation members extensively. It has what appears to be a flash hider attached to the barrel.
Shotguns
Sawn-off Side by Side Shotgun
Sawn-off Double Barreled Shotgun are often seen in-game. It deals more damage than the other shotgun and can be dual-wielded, but it has an obviously limited capacity.
Remington Model 31
The riot version of the Remington Model 31 appears in the game. It is in a close race with the sawn-off for best shotgun as it brings better range and capacity to the table.
Machine Gun
M60
An M60 with a heat shield and no bipod appears in the later stages of the game. It's fire rate in-game is much lower than it is in real life.
Launchers
RPG-7
The RPG-7 appears in the game as it's BFG. It can kill large groups of creatures with ease. The player can also melee with it, although there are better weapons for doing it.
RG-6 grenade launcher
The RG-6 grenade launcher considered to be a double-handed weapon and can hold up to 6 concussion, or explosive rounds. It can be also found mounted, in which case its ammo is unlimited. Otherwise, ammunition is very scarce.
