The Scout (Der Scout; full German title Der Scout - Tausend Mustangs und ein Hauptling) is a 1983 East German-Mongolian Western ("Red Western") movie directed by Konrad Petzold and Dshamjangijn Buntar and starring Gojko Mitic as White Feather, the chief of Nez Perces tribe in 1877. White Feather takes a mission to return horses of his tribe, taken away by US cavalry. In order to complete his mission he volunteered to be a scout in Col. Howard's unit. This is the last appearance of Gojko Mitic in DEFA Westerns, started in 1966 in The Sons of Great Bear (but not last his appearance in Western genre).
The following weapons were used in the film The Scout (Der Scout):
A girl of Cayuse tribe (Battsetseg Natsagdorj) steals a double barreled percussion cap pistol from the vagon of cattleman Parker (Helmut Schreiber).
Sigle Shot Breech Loaging Pistol
In one scene Lt. Brooks (Giso Weißbach) holds a large handgun that appears to be a kind of single shot, breech loading pistol of mid-19th century.
Rifles
Winchester Model 1892
Out of time Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbines, standing for earlier Winchester models, are seen in hands of several US cavalrymen, notably Pvts. Charles Randall (Hartmut Beer) and McGoun (Roland Seidler). White Feather (Gojko Mitic) uses McGoun's Winchester. Only a single piece is seen in a time, so probably a single prop is reused.
Some Nez Perces warriors are armed with single shot Martini ActionSchuetzen rifles, popular German target and hunting guns.
Aydt Rifle
Aydt system Schuetzen rifles are also seen.
Various rifles
Rifles of unclear models are seen in hands of Nez Perces warriors and US cavalrymen. They are possibly also Schuetzen rifles, but they are seen only partially or too unclear to make a strict guess.
