The Safety Match (Shvedskaya spichka) is a Soviet 1954 detective comedy directed by Konstantin Yudin and based on the short story by Anton Chekhov. Two detectives in a small Russian town, seasoned and bored magistrate Nikolai Yermolayevich Chubikov (Aleksey Gribov) and his inexperienced but aspiring assistant Emil Dyukovsky (Andrei Popov), investigate the supposed murder of local landlord. The main material evidence in the case is a charred safety match (known in Russia at that time as "Swedish match"). But at last the detectives find out that there was no murder, and the supposed victim disappeared from sights to make an affair with another man's wife.

Police Uryadnik (NCO rank in rural police) (Yuri Leonidov) and one of his subordinates, Stepan (Afanasi Kochetkov), carry holsters for Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model revolvers, correct service sidearms of Russian police at this time. Judging by the presence of lanyards, the revolvers are in holsters.
