Contradictory sources
So the info right now is primarily based on the Modern Firearms page on the BS-1 Tishina. However, when looking over to the Russian Wikipedia, I realized that the Modern Firearms page contradicts directly with the statements on the Russian Wikipedia. I'm going to note some of the discrepancies between these sources, using this page from weaponland.ru (cited on one of the Wikipedia pages) as the reference:
- On the Modern Firearms page, "Tishina" (silence) is the nickname for the weapon system, and refers to both iterations of the rifle + grenade launcher systems. On Weaponland.ru, Tishina refers to the first iteration of the weapon system, the AKMS + grenade launcher version.
- On Modernfirearms, "Kanarejka" (Canary) is the nickname for the grenade launcher. On weaponland.ru, "Kanarejka" is the nickname for the second iteration of the rifle + grenade launcher system, i.e. AKS-74U + grenade launcher.
- On Modernfirearms, BS-1 is the designation for both iterations of the weapon systems. On weaponland.ru, BS-1 is the designation for the grenade launcher, and specifically the first 7.62mm blank version; the second 5.45mm blank version is called BS-1M.
- On Modernfirearms, the grenade launcher is named GSN-19. The name GSN-19 does not appear on weaponland.ru.
- On weaponland.ru, the first version of the grenade launcher is also named "RGA-86" (РГА-86). No corresponding name appears on Modernfirearms.
- On weaponland.ru, the second iteration of the system (AKS-74U system) is designated "6S1" (6С1). No corresponding name appears on Modernfirearms.
- Lastly, weaponland.ru calls the 30mm armor-piercing incendiary grenade VOG-T, while Modernfirearms calls it AP-I.
