The Rookie is a 2018 television series starring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, a forty-something construction business owner who decides to move to Los Angeles and become an officer with the LAPD. During his probationary period, he must deal with the trials of being a new officer on the job at his age as well as animosity from his watch commander and other fellow officers. The series premiered in the US on ABC in October of 2018.

The Smith & Wesson M&P fitted with Surefire weaponlights are seen carried by several of the rookie officers in the series, including John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), Jackson West (Titus Makin), and Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil).
The M&P recently became the standard department-issued duty weapon for the LAPD.
Smith and Wesson M&P Compact
John keeps a Smith & Wesson M&Pc in his bedroom that he takes out in "The Roundup" (S1E05).
Smith & Wesson 39
During an investigation, Nolan finds what appears to be a Smith & Wesson 39 in a hidden area in "Pilot" (S1E01).
Glock 22
Glock 22 pistols fitted with Surefire X300 weaponlights are carried by LAPD training officers in the series.
Glock 17
Police Sergeant II Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) appears to carry a Glock 17 as his sidearm. He is seen holding the pistol in "The Switch" (S1E04).
Colt Officer's ACP
In "Pilot" (S1E01), a custom two-tone Colt Officer's ACP is used by a bank robber. This pistol appears to have Novak-style sights, flared magwell, slanted slide serrations, as well as a skeletonized hammer and trigger.
Colt Commander
A Colt Commander is used by Kai De Vera (Skye P. Marshall) in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" (S1E03).
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 64
In "Pilot" (S1E01), a carjacker reveals a revolver in his waistband that resembles a Smith & Wesson Model 64.
Colt Detective Special
A plastic replica gun that resembles a Colt Detective Special is used by an armed robber in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (S1E03).
Shotguns
Remington 870 (Police Magnum Extended)
The LAPD-issued shotgun in the series is the Remington 870 Police Magnum shotgun with extended magazine tubes. The officers also are seen with Remington shotguns that carry "less lethal" beanbag rounds.
Remington 870 (Magpul MOE handguard)
A Remington 870 fitted with a Magpul MOE handguard is seen in the hands of a bank robber in "Pilot" (S1E01).
A Heckler & Koch MP5K is used by a robbery suspect in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" (S1E03).

Colt Model 933
A Colt Model 933 carbine fitted with a Magpul CTR stock, Handguard, PMAG, and MOE Grip is seen used by a suspect in "Pilot" (S1E01).

A gunman is armed with a DSA SA58 OSW in "The Switch" (S1E04).

Taser X26P
A Taser X26P with green furniture is carried by LAPD patrol officers. The Taser is used by PO3 Talia Bishop (Afton Williamson) in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" (S1E03).
