Future Weapons was a Discovery Channel pop-science documentary show that ran for three seasons from 2006-2008. The show was presented by the late Richard "Mack" Machowicz and featured demonstrations of advanced weapons and period prototypes (including handheld weapons, mounted weapons and military vehicles) coupled to what were often extremely optimistic claims about their performance. Many of the featured projects would later be cancelled.
In the CornerShot segment of episode No Place To Hide a Beretta 92FS Inox could be seen being fired by an unknown soldier/guard from a CornerShot attachment which has a suppressor attached to it.
SIG-Sauer P226
In the CornerShot segment in episode No Place To Hide a SIG-Sauer P226 could be seen on a CornerShot attachment in the hands of an unknown soldier/guard.
A USP can be seen attached to a cornershot but it was not fired
Glock 17
The Glock 17 appears twice in the season one. It is first seen in the CornerShot segment of episode No Place To Hide where Mack uses it attached to a CornerShot and having an extended magazine. Later it is seen in the Advanced Tactical Laser segment of episode Future Shock where a SWAT unit is seen readying it and has a flashlight attached to it.
Metal Storm VLE
A Metal Storm VLE is seen in the Metal Storm segment of episode Future Shock.
Tavor TAR-21
A unknown person is seen holding a Tavor TAR-21 in the Tavor TAR-21 segment of episode The Power of Fear.
Tavor CTAR-21
Mack uses a Tavor CTAR-21 in the segment -Tavor TAR-21 in episode The Power of Fear.
M16A2/A4
M16A2/A4s are seen in the hands of US soldiers in Iraq, in the footage shown.
In Episode 5 "Smart Weapons", the AH-64 Apache helicopter is armed with an M230 Chain Gun. Another M230 CHG is attached to a CROWS (Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station).
This is a 1911 shown to illustrate the recoil of the .45 ACP
TDI Vector
The TDI Vector prototype was shown in its own segment of S2E10 "Close Quarter Combat," extolling the virtues of the weapon's off-axis delayed blowback operating system in reducing muzzle climb. It was referred to on the show as the "TDI Kriss," the earliest in a series of silly monikers applied to the Vector that ended with TDI changing its own name.
An M1A1 Thompson is seen being used by a U.S soldier in a WW2 video to explain that most SMGs have enormous recoil, while in the video clips one person empties a full magazine in one burst with no appreciable recoil.
A conveniently built rifle based on the AR-15 platform, the KAC Personal Defense Weapon is available with an 8" or 10" barrel and fires a 6x35mm cartridge built for similar velocity to a 5.56mm round but able to fire from a shorter barrel. The gun has a side folding stock for easy concealment and an advanced muzzle break which heavily cuts the huge muzzle flash expected from such a short barrel. The gun's recoil is very light so staying on target is easy, even when firing full auto. The gun was shown able to easily defeat body armor which a Heckler & Koch MP5A3 could not.
This rifle features the luxury of firing both 5.56x45mm or 7.62x39mm should someone wish to covertly complete a mission without revealing there was anymore than AKs used at the place. Can be swapped about with multiple parts to fit the user. Also is built for simplicity with all parts made ambidextrous.
LWRC SABR
The LWRC SABR (Sniper Assaulter Battle Rifle), now known as the REPR (Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle) was tested by Mack in S3E06. He used two different barrels to demonstrate the gun's ability to quickly transform between a carbine and sniper rifle.
