It Was in Kokand (a direct translation of the original title Eto bylo v Kokande) is a 1977 Soviet adventure mini series directed by Uchkun Nazarov and based on the novel by Nikolay Nikitin. The story is set in 1918-1921 in the town of Kokand and Fergana Valley in Russian Turkestan. Fates of main characters are changed by events of Russian Civil war. Yusup, a young slave, joins Red Army and a few years later becomes a commander. Former Russian Imperial Army officer Zaychenko serves to the Soviet power but then turns to Whites. Two Muslim leaders, Dzhabbar and Irgash, at first fight side by side but then their ways part. At last Yusup leads Red troops to deliver the last strike to Irgash's gang.

Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are widely used by numerous characters, notably Yusup (Otabek Ganiyev), the Chairman of Kokand Revolutionary Committee (Revcom) Denis Makarovich Avvakumov (Vyacheslav Shalevich), the Chairman of Soldiers Committee of the garrison of Kokand fortress Aleksandr Likholetov (Aleksandr Denisov), the commandant of Kokand fortress, former Russian Army Poruchik (Lt.) Zaychenko (Aleksandr Kaydanovskiy), the brigand chieftan Irgash (Murad Radzhabov) and some Red Army commanders and Irgash's men. Both pre- and post-1930 versions of Nagant can be seen.

Pistols
Mauser C96
Many local Muslim fighters, including Irgash (Murad Radzhabov), Dzhabbar Makhmud (Khamza Umarov), Dalabai (Turgun Azizov), carry Mauser C96 pistols. A Mauser is also carried by Denis Makarovich Avvakumov (Vyacheslav Shalevich); his pistol appears to be an M1930 version.
Walther PPK
An anachronistic Walther PPK is a personal handgun of British agent Donald (Georgi Shevtsov).
Tokarev TT-33
One of Irgash's henchmen (Sharif Kabulov) is armed with an anchronistic TT-33 of post-1947 version.
Colt M1911A1
Another one of Irgash's henchmen (Vahab Abdullaev) is armed with an M1911A1 pistol.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles, standing for original M91s, are widely used by soldiers of Kokand fortress, notably Filimonov (Pyotr Drozdov) and Fedotkin (Viktor Perevalov), Red Army soldiers, and Basmachi, notably Dzhabbar's servant Yarmat (Dzhavlon Khamrayev) and former Basmach Alimat (Nabi Rakhimov).

Maxim M1910 machine guns are used by revolutionary soldiers during the battle for Kokand fortress in Ep.2. In Ep.3 Yusup (Otabek Ganiyev), Likholetov (Aleksandr Denisov) and other Red Army soldiers also use Maxim M1910s.
Degtyaryov DP-27 (visually modified to resemble Lewis)
A Degtyaryov DP-27, visually modified to resemble Lewis, is fired by Dalabai (Turgun Azizov) in Ep.3.

RGD-5
In one scene in Ep.1 Likholetov (Aleksandr Denisov) hands an anachronistic RGD-5 hand grenade to Avvakumov (Vyacheslav Shalevich).
Trivia
Holsters
Artillery
Field guns, used by the garrison of Kokand fortress in Ep.2 and by Red Army soldiers in Ep.3, appear to be mockups. Pyrotechnical effects are used to imitate artillery fire. Same looking guns are seen in 3rd film of Fiery Roads (Ognennye dorogi) series (1983).
Footage
Armoured Train
An armoured train is seen in documentary footage in the opening, posing a vehicle of Russian Civil war. In reality it appears to be a footage of Chinese armoured train captured by Japanese troops in 1938.
Arisaka Rifle
In the same footage soldiers that are supposed to be Japanese Imperial army hold rifles that are supposed to be Arisaka.
