Verdun is a multiplayer FPS set in the First World War. The game takes place on the western front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun France in 1916. The game includes many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms and maps based on the real battlefields of Belgium and France. Tannenberg is sequel of Verdun it's taking the player to the eastern front of World War One.
The game features the following squad types:
Entente
Poilus: Led by a Caporal, the French Poilus are provide accurate rifle fire. Its officer has the ability to designate an area for artillery/mortar strikes.
Chasseurs: French light infantry unit who are fast moving. The Chasseurs' task is reconnaissance. Its officer calls in recon planes to detect the enemy troops by displaying their locations on the mini-map for a short period of time.
Tommies: The main British attack force, led into battle by a Corporal. The Tommies are the Entente Powers all-round squad type, supported by artillery fire.
Canadians: Considered by the German army to be the most dangerous enemy force on the western front, the Canadian assault unit is lightly equipped with grenades and rifles. They can call in gas artillery to cover their advance.
Central Powers
Landsers: The German Rifle Squads’ main strength is in advance under MG 08/15 support. Its officer has the ability to designate an area for artillery/mortar strikes.
Alpenjägers: German mountain infantry who are lightweight and focused on observation. Its officer calls in recon planes to detect the enemy troops by displaying their locations on the mini-map for a short period of time.
Stoßtruppen: Formed in response to trench warfare, elite lightweight units fought using infiltration tactics, grenades and experimental weapons. They can count on increasingly powerful chemical agents to harass the enemy and cover their infiltration
A Mauser C96 is seen in the Main menu. The HoW Expansion brings the playable C96 in. It appears as as the "Mauser C96 Besenstiel". It is loaded using standard 10-round stripper clips and, unlike in some games, its cannot be reloaded or "topped off" on a partial magazine.
The original Colt M1911 appears as the "Colt M1911" and is the standard sidearm for the U.S. officer ingame. Also the Canadian squad can use this pistol.(HoW Dlc)
The Reichsrevolver M1883 appears as the "Armeerevolver M/83 Reichsrevolver" and is available for the German Squad. It fires in single-action, and the hammer must be cocked after each shot. Due to the Reichsrevolver lacking any form of ejector rod, the player's character will instead use a stick to knock out each spent casing. (HoW Dlc)
A Mle 1892 Revolver is also seen on a table in the main menu. The HoW Expansion brings the playable Mle 1892 in. It apperas as the "MAS M1892 Lebel Revolver"
The Webley MK VI appears as the "Webley Mk VI Revolver". Additionally, the Trench Raider specialization has access to a Webley Mk VI equipped with a Pritchard bayonet.
The Mauser Gewehr 1898 appears as the "Gewehr '98" and is the standard infantry rifle for the German forces. It can be equipped with a M1898/05 Seitengewehr bayonet and a Gortz 3x Custom Scope. The Mauser can be reload with a 5-round stripper clip or with individual rounds. Some Gewehrs can also be equipped with a 20-round Grabenmagazain.
The Mauser Gewehr 1888/05 appears as the "G.P.K. Gewehr 88/05 Kommissionsgewehr". The G88 is the model of 1905, recognizable by the receiver modified to accept stripper clips instead of En-bloc clips. (HoW Dlc)
The Berthier 1892 Artillery Carbine appears as the "Mousqueton Mle. 1892 Berthier" and has an accurate 3 shot magazine, using an En-bloc clip. It can only be reloaded when the magazine is empty.
The Fusil Modèle 1916 Carabine appears as the "Berthier Model 1916" and has a 5 round magazine. Unlike the other Berthier rifles ingame, the Model 1916 is reloaded with a 5-round stripper clip. (HoW Dlc)
The Berthier 1907-15 appears as the "Fusil Mle 1907-15 Berthier". Like the Berthier 1892 Artillery Carbine the Berthier has only a 3 shot magazine. It can be equipped M1886 “Rosalie” bayonet and APX Mle 1917 Scope.
The Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III* is the standard infantry rifle for the British and Canadian forces ingame. It has a correct
10 rounds magazine and a high Rate of fire, and is loaded with 5-round stripper clips as well as individual cartridges. It can be equipped with a M1907 SMLE Bayonet and a Aldis M1916 Scope.
A sawed off Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III* is used by the British Trench Raiders .Unlike the full-sized version in-game, it is reloaded by swapping out the magazine, rather than with clips or single rounds. (HoW Dlc)
The Lee-Enfield Mk.I appears as the "Lee-Enfield MLE Mk.I". It lacks a charger bridge, and as such is unable to use stripper clips, and can only be reloaded with individual cartridges. (HoW Dlc)
The Ross Mk.III appears as the "Ross Model 1910 Mark III" and is the correct service rifle for the Canadian squad, although it is only usable by the "Specialist" specialization. (HoW Dlc)
The M1917 Enfield appears as the "Enfield M1917" and is available for the U.S. Doughboys and the U.S. Marine Corps squads. The Enfield is reloaded with a 5-round stripper clip and single round. It can be equipped with a U.S Musket Sight M1913 Scope. (HoW Dlc)
The Springfield M1903 Mk 1 appears as the "Springfield M1903" and is also available for the two American squads ingame. It can be equipped with a U.S Musket Sight M1913 Scope. (HoW Dlc)
The Belgian 1889 Mauser appears as the "Mauser Model 89" and is the standard rifle for the Belgian squad. A Carbine version is also available as the "Mauser Karabiner 16".(HoW Dlc)
The Bergmann MP18 is the only submachine gun in the game and appears as the "Maschinenpistole 18/I". It has
a high rate of fire but the gun is only effective in close range.

The BAR M1918 appears as the "Browning Automatic Rifle M1918 BAR". Available for the U.S. squads. It is the only LMG in the game that can be aimed without being mounted to a surface. It is also the only LMG in the game without a bipod. (HoW Dlc)
The Winchester Model 1897 appears as the "Winchester Model 1897 Trench Gun". It is available for the U.S. squads, and can be equipped with a M1917 bayonet. Like with many of its videogame depictions, the Winchester Model 1897 ingame is unable to be slamfired. (HoW Dlc)
The Wechselapparat M1917 is the only flamethrower in the game and is used by the German Pionieer Squad. Appers as the "Wechselapparat M1917 Wex". (HoW Dlc)
The Model 17 Stielhandgranate appears as the "Stielhandgranate M1917". The German Pionier suqad has a two Geballte Ladungen one with 6 and 9 warheads. (HoW Dlc)
