The following guns were used in the film Jarhead
M40 Sniper Rifle
The primary weapon of the main protagonist in the film, an M40 sniper rifle is carried by Anthony "Swoff" Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) in his role as a Marine Scout Sniper. Several other Marines are also seen using the rifle throughout the movie. The only time it is fired in anger is in a deleted scene where Swofford shoots and kills an Iraqi officer while Troy (Peter Sarsgaard) and Major Lincoln (Dennis Haysbert) are arguing about it.
M16A2 Rifle
The M16A2 rifle appears numerous times in the film as the standard weapon of the U.S. Marine Corps, most notably in a scene where Swofford snaps and holds Fergus (Brian Geraghty) at gunpoint with one and forces him to recite the Rifleman's Creed, then gives the weapon to Fergus and demands for him to shoot him with it, which fergus refuses to do.
M203 Grenade Launcher
The M203 grenade launcher appears in the film mounted on several Marines' M16A2 rifles, most notably Fergus and Troy's rifles.
M249 SAW
The M249 SAW makes a few appearances in the film, most notably when the Marines are having a party to celebrate the end of the war, wherein it is one of the weapons being fired into the air.
M60 machine gun
The M60E3 machine gun makes several appearances in the film, most notably during the Scout Sniper training program where one Marine is killed after taking a round to the head from the weapon, and again near the end of the film where several are shown being fired into the air to celebrate the end of the war. There are also appearances of door-mounted M60's, first when Marines are watching the famous 'helicopter scene' of Apocalypse Now, and then on a Marine Corps Huey sitting on the ground at the Marine camp during Operation: Desert Shield.
AK-47
Just before being deployed to the middle east, the Marines can be seen watching the 'helicopter scene' from Apocalypse Now, the Việt Cộng fighters on the screen being seen with AK-47's.
GE M134 Minigun
Just before being deployed to the middle east, the Marines can be seen watching the 'helicopter scene' from Apocalypse Now, some of the helicopters seen fitted with GE M134 Miniguns.
Beretta M92FS
The Beretta M92FS appears several times in the film, usually being worn by officers, and is another weapon shown being fired in celebration at the end of the war.
M18A1 Claymore
An M18A1 Claymore mine makes a rather humorous appearance in the film when Fergus asks Swofford which way the mine should be planted facing, obviously having failed to notice the words "FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY" on the front of the mine, which Swofford sarcastically points out.
M67 Hand Grenade
During their time in the Saudi desert during Operation: Desert Shield, the Marines are shown practicing with M67 hand grenades.
Mk 19 Grenade Launcher
At the start of Operation: Desert Storm, a humvee can be seen with a Mk 19 grenade launcher mounted on the roof.
Browning M2 Heavy Machine Gun
During the parade to welcome the Marines home at the end of the war, a humvee can be briefly seen with a Browning M2 heavy machine gun mounted on the roof.
