The Long Good Friday is a 1980 British gangster film directed by John Mackenzie (The Fourth Protocol,The Last of the Finest) and stars Bob Hoskins, Helen Mirren, Bryan Marshall and Derek Thompson. Not only was it a breakthrough role for Bob Hoskins, the film also featured many young actors who went onto greater fame, such as Pierce Brosnan, Daragh O'Malley, Dexter Fletcher and Kevin McNally. The film was actually finished a year before it was released, as rights issues held it up.
