Breda Modello 37
Standard issue heavy machinegun of the Regio Esercito (Royal Army) of Italy during WWII and for another couple of years after the war (full radiation presumed around 1948, even if some were still kept in service at the Infantry School in Cesano (near Rome) for training purposes for a longer time). A peculiar note about this machinegun is that every round is extracted from the feed strip, shot, and the spent case is then replaced on the strip, so when the gun exhausts a feed strip the casings were still in one place and not scattered all around. The real motive behind this are unknown but it is speculated in several books (e.g."World War 2's Small Arms" by John Weeks) because such a system granted an easier recovery and thus reload and reusage or recycling of the brass of the spent cases.
