The Blacklist is a television crime thriller starring James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington, a master criminal who gives himself up to the FBI after avoiding arrest for several decades. In exchange for immunity, he has offered up a so-called "blacklist" of other criminals he has had an association with and is willing to locate them only if he works with Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), a rookie FBI profiler. The series premiered in the US in 2013 after the Super Bowl and Joe Carnahan directed the pilot episode. The Blacklist: Redemption, a spinoff series, premiered in the US on NBC in February of 2017.
