Mannix is a detective TV show created by Richard Levinson and William Link, and produced by Bruce Geller (who also created the espionage series Mission: Impossible). It ran from 1967 to 1975 on the channel CBS alongside M:I.
Mannix followed the life of Los Angeles private investigator Joseph "Joe" Mannix, played by Mike Connors, and his work boss, Lew Wickersham (played by Joseph Campanella). Mannix is of Armenian descent (like Connors himself), and is proficient in most athletics, including being a black belt in Karate, a decent skier, and an excellent pool player. He is also a veteran of the Korean War. In this season, he works for detective firm Intertect. He carries his Intertect-issued Walther PP in this season, but he also carries a Colt Detective Special for his personal use.
The show won the "Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama" in 1971, which was late Season 4 and early Season 5. Mike Connors himself also won an award for his portrayal of Mannix, the 1969 Golden Globe Awards (for which he was nominated six consecutive times) and 4 straight Emmy nominations from 1970 to 1973. Mannix, the series itself, was twice nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Series. In 1972, writer Mann Rubin won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the episode "A Step in Time" (S5E03).
The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series Mannix:
Pistols
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is prominent, pretty much being the only semi-automatic pistol commonly used besides Mannix's PP. However, Mannix often implies the M1911A1 is double-action - the Colt M1911A1 is SAO.
Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket
In "Skid Marks on a Dry Run", Ms. Ellis (Wende Wagner) uses a ivory-handled Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket that she keeps in her purse.
Walther PP
The Walther PP Mannix's Intertect-issued sidearm, kept in a bare-bones metal holster. It is rarely seen anywhere else.
Revolvers
Colt Detective Special
Mannix's personal sidearm is a Colt Detective Special. It is also common gun for "goons" to carry and use.
Colt Official Police
The Colt Official Police is used by a lot of characters from both sides of the law.
Rifles
Winchester Model 70
During the events of "Nothing Ever Works Twice" (S1E02), Z uses a pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 to attempt to assassinate Sarah and later threaten Mr. A and Mannix.
