The Marine (2006)

The Marine is a 2006 action film featuring WWE star John Cena as Sergeant John Triton, a US Marine who has to utilize his special skills to rescue his wife, who has been kidnapped by ruthless bank robbers. Several direct to video sequels that also starred WWE wrestlers would follow: 2009's The Marine 2 (featuring Ted DiBiase Jr.), 2013's The Marine 3: Homefront, 2015's The Marine 4: Moving Target and 2017's The Marine 5: Battleground, (the latter three films featuring Mike "The Miz" Mizanin) .

The following weapons were used in the film The Marine:

Rifles / Carbines

M16 (SP1)

John Triton (John Cena) uses an M16 (SP1) rifle fitted with a Cobray 37mm Launcher to dispatch Al Qaeda torturing US Marines during the opening scene in the film. The gun is fitted with an A1-style birdcage muzzle brake, which gives the weapon a large and impressive "star pattern" muzzle flash. The original slab-side M16 was actually never issued to the US Marines.

Colt Model 733

Rome (Robert Patrick) takes a Colt Model 733 carbine from the back of his car during the robbery and uses it to hose down a police car before the car is destroyed by Morgan's (Anthony Ray Parker) rocket launcher. Later, Bennett (Manu Bennett) uses the same gun to shoot at Triton (John Cena) as he pursues them in a police Camaro.

Norinco Type 56

The Al Qaeda members torturing U.S. Marines during the opening scene are mainly armed with Norinco Type 56 rifles, fitted with underfolding 'pig-sticker' bayonets and AKM-style muzzle brakes.

Pistols

Beretta 92FS

John Triton (John Cena) is seen using what appears to be a Beretta 92FS to shoot several Al Qaeda members. The gun is never shown in focus. A South Carolina Police officer hunting down Rome (Robert Patrick) and his gang holds his Beretta 92FS on John Triton (John Cena) when he finds him in the woods. After Triton turns his handcuffs on himself with his Marine-style hand-to-hand, he takes the officers Beretta from him, but never uses it.

Beretta 92SB

Jericho 941 F

Rome (Robert Patrick) carries a brushed chrome Jericho 941 F (meaning his has a frame mounted safety) as his sidearm in the film, chambered in .45 ACP. Triton (John Cena) is also seen on the film poster wielding a Jericho, but is not seen wielding one in the film.

The ejected casing clearly reads ".45mm" which is woefully incorrect. 45/100 of a millimeter is extremely small (in fact .45mm equates to 0.019685 of an inch - a diameter slightly smaller than most common hypodermic needles). Rome's Jericho fires .45 caliber rounds, which are actually measured as 45/100 of an inch in diameter. It is not a metric measurement.

Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Model 14

The two cops at the gas station carry Smith & Wesson Model 14 revolvers, even though the rest of the state police carry Beretta 92FS pistols. After John Triton's (John Cena) wife Kate (Kelly Carlson) is kidnapped by Rome's (Robert Patrick) gang, he takes an officer's Model 14 and a speed loader and begins the chase. Unfortunately the gun is knocked from his hand before he can reload and is thus never used.

Shotguns

Remington 870 Custom

Billy (Jeff Chase), a hick in the woods, holds a Remington 870 shotgun with an old style USMC heatshield and bayonet lug adapter and sawed off buttstock, on Triton (John Cena) when he accuses him of being a cop. It resembles the shotgun used by Denzel Washington in Training Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers and a random thug in Desperado.

Other

Cobray CM203 Launcher

Attached to John Triton's M16 (SP1) rifle is a Cobray CM203 Flare Launcher, standing in for M203 grenade launcher. Unlike a real grenade launcher, it is shown capable of detonation at very close ranges, which is not possible with real grenade rounds due to a safety feature based on how many times the round spins in flight. Also, the explosion of the round is depicted as a huge fireball which engulfs the bad guys, another piece of film fiction.

Armbrust ATW

Morgan (Anthony Ray Parker) uses an "Israeli Shoulder Fired Single Shot Rocket Launcher" (in reality a German Armbrust ATW) to blow up a police cruiser once Rome's (Robert Patrick) Colt Model 733 proves ineffective. The Armbrust is manufactured by Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm and licensed to Singapore. It is a lightweight 67mm Single shot rocket system (just like the American M72 LAW) except that it is one of the few weapons of that type that is safe to fire from within an enclosed space.

Hind Minigun (Acetylene Gas Firing)

At the film's beginning, the "Hind" helicopter during the Iraq mission fires off a chin-mounted Gatling-type gun during the opening scene, which is actually firing Acetylene gas to simulate muzzle flash. This actually is footage taken from the film Rambo III and the helicopter is a Aérospatiale Puma mocked up as a Russian MIL Mi-24 Hind. The Minigun is standing in for the YakB 12.7mm which is typically mounted on real Hinds.
