Fairly certain it's a Marlin Model 1881 lever action rifle. Made between 1881 - 1891 in four calibers. There were two different frame sizes. The influence of advisor and former Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson can be seen in the pistol (a Commander-style 1911), holster and grips used by Jeff Bridges, very similar to those used by Nick Nolte in Extreme Prejudice.
