The Smith & Wesson 6900 series are 'Third-Generation' descendants of the earlier (Second-Generation) blued Smith & Wesson 469 and stainless Smith & Wesson 669 Semiautomatic Pistols (9mm). The series consists of the 6904, which features a dark alloy frame with black finish, the 6906, same as the 6904 but with stainless steel finish on the slide and satin silver alloy frame, and the 6946, which is the 6906 in DAO (double action only), without external safety.
