Live by Night is an upcoming 2017 crime film written, directed, and co-produced by Ben Affleck. Set in the US during the time of Prohibition, the film tells the story of Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck), a Boston gangster who also happens to be the estranged son of a Boston police captain, who starts running a bootlegging operation in Florida. The film was adapted from a novel by Dennis Lehane, the author of Mystic River and whose novel Gone Baby Gone was previously adapted into a film by Affleck. The cast includes Elle Fanning, (Brendan Gleeson), (Sienna Miller), (Zoe Saldana), and (Chris Cooper), who also co-starred in Affleck's previous film The Town, which Affleck also starred in, co-wrote, and directed.
The following weapons were used in the film Live by Night (2016):
Handguns
Colt 1902
Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck) carries what appears to be a Colt Model 1902 as his sidearm in the trailer.
Colt Official Police
A bank guard fires a 4-inch .38 police revolver, likely a Colt Official Police, in the trailer.
CZ 27
One of Coughlin's partners carries a small automatic pistol that resembles a CZ 27 in the trailer.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 12
The bank robbers appear to carry cut-down Winchester Model 12 shotguns.
Submachine Guns / Automatic Rifles
Thompson Submachine Gun
The superstar of gangster weapons, the Thompson Submachine Guns, is seen only briefly in the trailer.
Browning Automatic Rifle
Joe Coughlin wields and fires a customized Browning Automatic Rifle in the trailer. This gun resembles the famous sawed off BARs used by Bonnie and Clyde, and also the ones used in (Public Enemies). The major difference is that while the barrel is shortened, the one in the trailer also has a shortened stock, making it a sort of BAR "whippet gun." The gun in the trailer also differs in that it appears to have a later model sight.
