The VMG 1927 is a light machine gun developed by Heinrich Vollmer in 1916. The weapon was originally named the MG Vollmer, but that name was eventually removed. The VMG used a very low number of parts, a total of 78, while other MGs of this time used many more, such as the MG08/15 which used 383 parts. The VMG was offered for use with the German Army but after tests, it was not accepted. However, it did end up seeing limited use with German forces during World War II.
