ArmA III is a military-simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive Studio (BIS) exclusively for the PC. It is the third installment of the ArmA series, officially announced on May 19, 2011, and is built around the new Real Virtuality 4 engine owned by BIS. The playable alpha version of the game was made purchasable on the Steam store and BIS' page on March 5, 2013. The beta was released on June 25, and the full release was on September 13, 2013. New weapons and vehicles are added with each new part of the free-to-download campaign, split up into multiple chapters.
The storyline is set in mid-2030s during an international conflict between NATO and the Iranian Armed Forces in the Aegean Sea. The main protagonist is Corporal Ben Kerry, a US Army soldier who becomes stranded on a 270km² fictional Mediterranean island called "Altis" (Based upon the 475km² Greek island, Lemnos) after a failed NATO operation, and must fight his way out by helping build an effective resistance force in the process and cooperate with the local population.
The expansion to Arma 3, Apex, features a 100km² Pacific setting, Tanoa, and a variety of high tech and low tech new weapons. After a natural disaster, Tanoa is left vunerable to crime and disorder from a local paramilitary criminal group, Syndikat. This leaves the area rife for a attempted incursion by CSAT, and NATO is called again to defend from aggression. It was released on the 11th of July, 2016, after some time in public beta testing.

Arma 3
Handguns
Walther P99
The Walther P99 serves as the standard sidearm of NATO forces. It's in game designation is P07, and it's chambered for 9x21mm, the same as the OPFOR pistol.
MP-443 Grach
The MP-443 Grach appears as the OPFOR pistol under the fictional classification of Rook 40. Like the P99, it is chambered in 9x21mm, and their magazines are interchangable.
Kimber Warrior
The ACP C2 is the sidearm of the GREENFOR forces. It is a 1911 variant, based on a combination of a variety of models, namely the Kimber Custom Covert II, with the Kimber Desert Warrior and the Colt Rail Gun. It is chambered in .45 ACP and has a magazine capacity of nine.
FN FNP-45
The FN FNP-45 is BLUFOR's "heavy pistol". Heavy pistols are essentially similar to regular pistols in game, except they can mount certain optics on their top rail. It was released as a free update on October 31st. In-game, it is known as the 4-five .45, and is chambered for .45 ACP.
Chiappa Rhino 60DS
The Chiappa Rhino 60DS is OPFOR's "heavy pistol". Heavy pistols are essentially similar to regular pistols in game, except they can mount certain optics on their top rail. It was released as a free update on October 31st. In-game, it is named the Zubr, and is chambered in .45 ACP.
Taurus Judge (*)
Released on the 29th of May, 2014, the Taurus Judge is refurbished as the Starter Pistol for the Karts DLC. Instead of blanks, it fires flare shells, in either red or green colours, in burst of 3 per shell.
Submachine guns
TDI Vector
The TDI Vector is the BLUFOR SMG of choice. It is known as the Vermin SBR, and fires the .45 ACP cartridge, with a magazine capacity of 30.
CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1
The CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1 is the OPFOR SMG of choice. It's known in game as the Sting 9mm, and uses 9x21mm ammo.
ST Kinetics CPW
The ST Kinetics CPW is the INDFOR SMG of choice. It's know in game as the PDW2000, and uses 9x21mm ammo.
Assault Rifles
"MX 6.5mm"
U.S. Army soldiers use a fictional assault rifle (designed by real-life CMMG, Inc.), that has design elements borrowed from the Remington ACR and Robinson Armament XCR. Compact and light machine gun variants are also available. By default, it fires caseless 6.5mm ammunition, although it could possibly fire traditional cased ammunition, due to the presence of an ejection port on the right-hand side of the weapon.
The MX comes in five variants- a standard rifle, a carbine, a grenadier (3GL mounted at its 6 o'clock rail), a squad support weapon, and a Designated Marksman Rifle variant.
DIO KH2002 Sama
Iranian soldiers are seen with a fictional variant of the DIO KH2002 Sama, known in game as the Katiba 6.5mm. It fires caseless 6.5mm rounds. The front sight has been removed and the carrying handle has been lowered and modified with a rail system. Like the other assault rifles, the KH2002 can be customized with various attachments.
FN F2000 Tactical
A fictional variant of the FN F2000 Tactical is used by INDFOR soldiers and appears as the Mk 20. It features the Monolith Arms rail system, and can be customized with a variety of attachments. A grenade launcher is available for the weapon and called the "Mk 20GL". It is based on the FN GL-1.
IMI Tavor TAR-21
The IMI Tavor TAR-21 is used by the NATO faction, specifically the FIA guerrillas. The in game designation for the full length variant is TRG-21, while its carbine version is known as TRG-20-. They're chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO.
Kel-Tec RFB Carbine
The Kel-Tec RFB Carbine appears as the SDAR 5.56mm, and is used by all factions, modified into a fictional underwater weapon. It remains visually identical, though. Oddly enough, its selector switch has only two positions marked; safe and fire, albeit the rifle's ability to fire in semi, three-round burst and full automatic modes. To compensate for its selectable settings, the switch will just stop halfway- at the 6 o'clock position, for burst fire.
Sniper Rifles
Mk 14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifle
The Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR is used by INDFOR soldiers, in the Marksman role. It's known in-game as the Mk 18 ABR 7.62, and is chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO.
CheyTac M200
The CheyTac M200 is the anti-materiel rifle of the BLUFOR faction, and is labelled as the M320 LRR .408 ingame. It is chambered in .408 CheyTac.
Gepard GM6 Lynx
The GM6 Lynx anti-material rifle is the anti-materiel rifle of the OPFOR faction. It was first demoed at the Gamescon conference, and was licenced from SERO. It's chambered in 12.7x108mm Sovjet.
Izhmash VS-121
The VS-121 was released on October 31st, and replaces the Mk14 EBR for OPFOR's marksman. In game, it's known as the Rahim 7.62, and is chambered for 7.62x51mm. It has an erroneous full-auto mode.
Noreen "Bad News" (*)
Added as part of the Marksmen DLC on 8/4/15, the MAR-10 .338 is heavily inspired by the Noreen "Bad News" rifle according to the devs. It's chambered for .338 Lapua, and is tied to the NATO faction.
SIG 556 DMR (*)
Added as part of the Marksmen DLC, the MK1 EMR 7.62mm is heavily inspired by the SIG 556 DMR. It was rechambered in game for 7.62mm, owing to Arma 3's future setting having improved body armour technology significantly. It fires in single or full auto, and is also tied to the NATO faction.
"Cyrus 9.3mm" (*)
The first Marksmen rifle for the CSAT faction is pretty odd. It's known as the Cyrus 9.3mm It's claimed to be an amalgamation of various SVD and Saiga designs, but it seems to this Wiki'er to be very generic overall. It's chambered for .338 Lapua, and fires in single or full auto.
VSS (*)
The other CSAT faction Marksmen rifle is a very VSS-esque design, designated the ASP-1 kir 12.7mm Perhaps owing to the future setting, it's a very customized design. It's chambered for a subsonic 12.7mm round, owing to it's integral suppressor.
M14 Battle Rifle (*)
A more retro design in these future days, the M14 battle rifle turns up almost totally un-modified as the Mk14 7.62 mm. It's tied to the FIA faction, is chambered for 7.62mm, and fires in semi or full-auto.
Machine Guns
Knight's Armament Company Light Machine Gun
The KAC LMG, appearing as the Mk200 6.5mm, is the machine gun available to INDFOR in-game. It features a Magpul UBR stock and can be fitted with various accessories. It fires 6.5x39mm caseless ammunition.
IMI Negev
The IMI Negev is the OPFOR medium machine gun, chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, and appears as the Zafir 7.62mm. It is fitted with a variety of modern furniture, including a FAB Defense stock.
LWMMG (*)
The first of two MMGs added with the Marksmen DLC, the SPMG .338 is a design inspired by the General Dynamics LWMMG. It's tied to the NATO faction, and fires .338 Norma Magnum rounds.
HK MG5 (*)
The other MMG added by the Marksmen DLC was the Navid, also inspired by a real-world analogue, the HK 121. It fires in full-auto, and interestingly, a burst fire mode. However, the burst fire mode fires much, much more rapidly than the full-auto mode. It's chambered for 9.3mm.
Launchers
Metal Storm 3GL
The Metal Storm 3GL is the standard underbarrel launcher of NATO forces, mounted on the MX rifle. It fires both single rounds and 3 round magazines, in frag, flare and smoke variants.
GL-1
FN GL-1 launchers are seen mounted on DIO KH2002, FN F2000 Tactical, and Tavor TAR-21 rifles in-game. It fires frag, flare, and smoke rounds, of varying types.
NLAW
The NLAW (British designation for the MBT LAW) is the standard launcher of NATO troops. It is designated the PCML in game.
RPG-32
The RPG-32 appears as the RPG-42 and is the standard OPFOR launcher.
Rafael Mini-Spike
The Rafael Mini-Spike appears as the Titan, in two variants. A normal, AA variant, and a shortened, AT and AP variant. It also comes in tripod mounted variants. It is universal to all factions. The compact version features a small launch tube with a square profile which is taken from the actual Mini-Spike, whereas the standard launcher has a fictitious larger hexagonal tube whilst still using the Command and Launch Unit (CLU) from the Mini-Spike.
Mounted Weapons
GE GAU-8/A Avenger
The General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger cannon appears as the main armament of the NATO "A-164 Wipeout" (derived from the A-10 Thunderbolt II) CAS jet.
Browning M2 Heavy Barrel
The Browning M2HB is seen mounted on the back of the Offroad Technical, used by the FIA faction in-game. It also features as part of the Remote Controlled Weapon System, or the RCWS, alongside the GMG.
Heckler & Koch GMG
The Heckler & Koch GMG is seen as part of the RCWS, and is mounted on a bevvy of Arma 3's vehicles.
XM312
The XM312 appears as the Mk30. It's used in tripods, raised tripods, autonomous tripods, and on patrol boats. It's used by the NATO, OPFOR, and INDFOR factions.
XM307
The XM307 appears as the Mk32. It's used on tripods, raised tripods, and autonomous tripods. It's used by NATO, OPFOR, and INDFOR factions.
Dillon Aero M134 Minigun
The DA M134 Minigun is seen mounted on the "AH-9" attack helicopter (derived from the AH-6 Little Bird) used by the NATO faction in-game. It's also seen on the Assault Boat, and on the PO-30 Orca OPFOR helicopter.
General Dynamics XM301
The GD XM301 is seen mounted on the "AH-99 Blackfoot" attack helicopter (derived from the RAH-66 Comanche) used by the NATO faction in-game.
General Dynamics GAU-19/A
The GD GAU-19/A is seen mounted on the "Mi-48 Kajman" attack helicopter (derived from the Mi-28 "Havoc") used by the Iranian Armed Forces faction in-game. It is unclear why the GAU-19/A is featured as the main armament of the Mi-48 instead of the Shipunov 2A42, although this reason could be for ArmA III's futuristic background. It does act like the 2A42, switching from HE to AP without needing to re-chamber.
ZVI Plamen PL-20 2x20mm gun pod
The L-159 Alca comes with an underslung gun pod with dual 20mm cannons.

Pistols
Makarov PMM
The Makraov PMM appears as the standard backup pistol for the Syndikat millita forces. It's known as the PM 9mm in game, and is chambered for 9x21mm, as is the future standard, and has no attachments.
Submachine Guns
H&K MP5K
The Tanoan Gendarmerie Police use an MP5K with RIS and PDW stock. It's known in game as the Protector 9mm, and like most future SMGs, is chambered for 9x21mm.
Assault Rifles
H&K HK416A5
The Hechler & Koch HK416A5 appears as the standard arm of CTRG Special Forces on Tanoa. It appears as the SPAR-16 under a variety of variants. It's chambered for 5.56x45mm, and has a bevvy of rails for attachments.
QBZ-95
A modified version of the QBZ-95 appears as the standard arm of the Pacific forces of CSAT in a variety of configurations. It's known as the CAR-95 5.8mm, and is chambered for 5.8mm. The carry handle has been switched out for a rail mount, and the front foregrip is missing.
AK-12
The AK-12 7.62mm appears as itself, with several oddities. Firstly, it has a single fire, automatic fire, and 2 round burst selection, but the 2 round burst seems to be emulating the burst of an AN-12, being very rapid and accurate. It's also chambered in 7.62x39mm. This is presumably to keep the ammo in line with the AKM rifle. It's used by the Syndikat faction.
AKM
The welcome return of the AKM 7.62mm is made in Apex. It's one of the very few main rifles with no points for attachments. It's chambered for 7.62x39mm, and is a standard arm of the Syndikat criminal faction.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74u 5.45mm appears, the only weapon chambered in 5.45x39mm so far in the game. It's standard for Syndikat launcher users.
H&K HK417 A2
The Hechler & Koch HK417A2 appears under the name SPAR-17 7.62mm as the standard DRM of the CTRG forces on Tanoa. It's chambered for 7.62x51mm, and has a variety of attachment points.
QBU-88
The Norinco QBU-88 appears under the name CMR-76 6.5mm and is used by the CSAT Pacific faction as the standard DRM rifle. It's chambered for 6.5mm, and naturally, has lots of room for attachments.
"Type 115"
The Type 115 6.5mm is a very, very strange addition. It seems similar to concepts like the H&K OICW and the Chinese ZH-05, combining two seperate firearms into one case. In this case, the upper is a 6.5mm semi/auto rifle, with a lower barrel .50 semiauto rifle. Unlike most other concepts for these designs, the .50 weapon doesn't have any special airburst rounds or anything, it's just essentially a lower accuracy sniper rifle. Very strange. It's used exclusively by the CSAT Special Forces "Viper" division.
Machineguns
Mk 46 Mod 1
The Mk46 Mod1 appears as the standard LMG for Syndikat gunners, under the name LIM-85 5.56mm. Weirdly, it has two different selectable firing speeds, one faster and one slower. It's chambered for 5.56x45mm.

The RPG-7 appears as itself, and is the standard launcher for Syndikat forces.
