"Jay" Cochran, a recently retired US naval aviator who becomes romantically involved with Miryea Mendez (Madeleine Stowe), the young wife of his powerful Mexican friend Tiburon "Tibby" Mendez (Anthony Quinn). The film was based on a novella by Jim Harrison (the author of Legends of the Fall), who also co-wrote the screenplay. In 2004, Scott would release a more streamlined director's cut of the film on video.
