His Battalion (original title Ego batalyon) is a 1989 Soviet made for TV war drama directed by Aleksandr Karpov (Dolgie vyorsty voyny) and based on the novel by Vasil Bykov. It depicts one day of Capt. Nikolai Voloshin, a commander of infantry battalion.

Most Soviet officers carry TT-33 pistols.
Nagant M1895
A Nagant M1895 is Maj. Kaskov's (Valeri Filatov) personal sidearm. This revolver has pre-1930 rounded front sight.
OSP-30
Capt. Voloshin (Vitaly Zikora), Lt. Markin (Boris Rudnev) and Sgt. Gutman (Andrei Kashker) use an OSP-30 Flare Pistol, passing it from hand to hand.
Submachine Guns
PPSh-41
Many Soviet officers and NCOs, including Lts. Samokhin (Igor Lenyov) and Kruglov (Igor Neupokoyev), combat medic Sgt. Veretennikova (Lyubov Germanova), Sgt. Gutman (Andrei Kashker), are seen with PPSh-41 SMGs.

During the second attack on the hill Capt. Voloshin (Vitaly Zikora) fires a Goryunov SG-43, replacing a dead gunner. In the original novel Voloshin fires a DShK.
