Doomed to War (original title Obrechyonnye na voynu) is a Russian 2008 war drama directed by Olga Zhulina and based on the story Poyti i ne vernutsya (To Go and Not Return) by Vasil Bykov. In Winter 1942 in Nazi-occupied Belorussia two young partisans, Zosya (Nina Loshchinina) and Anton (Yuri Kolokolnikov), are sent to a reconnaissance mission. Anton falls in love to Zosya but his desire to survive in any way leads to betrayal of his love.
The film is the fourth screen adaptation of the original story, preceded by 1987, 1992 and 2004 films, all under the title Poyti i ne vernutsya.
