The Quick and the Dead is a 1987 HBO television Western film based on the 1973 Louis L'Amour novel of the same name. The film stars Sam Elliott as Con Vallian, a cowboy who befriends a young family traveling West and proceeds to help them fend off bandits who threaten their lives.
