:::: I didn't ask, no one did, actually. My opinion and suggestion was only that, an opinion and suggestion. And neither you or, more importantly, the admins, have to go with it. The work looks good I admit, but unfortunately it seems you've clearly ignored the following and penultimate point of my post - ''"Ultimately, it's up to the admins as to what's allowable and what isn't, and if it isn't allowed I see little point in belaboring the issue."''. I myself had forgotten/overlooked there was a specific prohibition for The Simpsons (among other enumerated titles). In any event, FCM said no go for the actual site, so there it is. Yeah. I thought that it might have been allowed since, from what I've gathered, all of the previous attempts consisted of n00bs posting some generic revolvers and double barreled shotguns while ignoring detailed and obviously drawn that way guns like the UMP45 and M134 from Treehouse of Horror XVIII and the M1 Carbine from the bank robber episode. Guess not, though.[[User:Geomax|Geomax]] ([[User talk:Geomax|talk]]) 14:32, 19 October 2014 (EDT) |

Although this page was rightly (for several reasons) blanked, shouldn't there be a page for the Simpsons series? Off the top of my head, I remember seeing Homer using a Winchester Model 1887 to kill zombies, and there was also an M3 / M3A1 "Grease Gun" in the gun shop when Homer bought his revolver. Also, when Moe turns 1 gun into 5 guns in that episode the guns he attaches to the generic shotgun are a definite Uzi and Luger P08, and a possible 1911 and Colt Peacemaker. There was also a case with people riding walruses firing AK-47s, but can't remember the context at all. Not certain if this last one counts, but there was also an episode where Snake was committing a crime armed with the M41A pulse rifle from Aliens. Granted, the majority of the firearms used in the series are generic (particularly the revolvers and shotguns) but there are quite a few cases where the weapons are identifiable as real guns. --commando552 18:40, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
IMFDB features Guns in Anime, I would think Cartoons should be allowed here too. Some Cartoon's definatly make the effort to feature real guns. I know Stewie from Family Guy favors the M3A1 on several occaisions too.
IF you fell that strongly that there should be pages for a previously excluded title, build a QUALITY page (proper structure and formatting, quality screencaps and descriptions, the works) for it at the bottom of your user page and demonstrate to the admins why it should be allowed. Even that's a long shot, but at least you'll demonstrate that you're willing to put in the work for it instead of expecting someone else to. Don't expect for a debatable page to be approved when it doesn't even come close to conforming to quality standards like this one did (no screencaps, links, formatting, stock pics, only one (very generic) mentioned weapon).--PistolJunkie 20:11, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Pretty nice notification MPM placed on the main page. - Kenny99 03:41, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- It was bound to happen eventually. They pissed away their chances of building a proper page and actually showing why they though it belonged, and it seems MPM has had enough of it.--PistolJunkie 04:48, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
I'm currently in the process of watching all the episodes keeping an eye out for guns, and after 70 episodes so far have only found one real one, which is the Winchester Model 1887 from Treehouse of Horror III. I only have the first 11 seasons on DVD so can't watch all the episodes, but if I find a few more real guns will make something on my user page to see if it is good enough. --commando552 14:12, 9 March 2011 (MSK)
There additionally was a Simpsons episode named "Debarted" where a nickel M1911A1 with pearl grips is in Homer's Car. It is clearly animated as such. Also, another M1911A1 appeared when Homer is being targeted by an assassin.
Don't count on it...
Seriously guys, don't count on seeing The Simpsons or Family Guy on here. EVER. (Especially after the creation of this placekeeping page) Sure there might be a few easily identifiable firearms in those shows, but their appearances are severely limited and mostly overshadowed by the "generic animator drawings" of what are supposed to be "guns", and even then, I highly doubt that it will warrant their own pages on here.
Sure there might be some animated shows like FX's Archer making an appearance on here because at least the animators of that show clearly took the time to draw guns in great detail to the point that they could be easily identifiable (Just search it up on YouTube and a few of the scenes show several handguns and submachineguns in great detail like the Uzi, Walther PPK, SIG-Sauer P230, TEC-9, and an MP-40), and the same thing applies for Japanese Anime, but as far as The Simpsons and Family Guy are concerned, don't count on it at all.
So stop trying to reach the end of this rainbow folks, because there is no pot of gold at the end. Only stale cornflakes. --ThatoneguyJosh 13:43, 8 April 2011 (CDT)
In that episode of the Simpsons where Marge becomes friends with the bank robber, I'm pretty sure that the bank robber's partner uses an M1 Carbine with a 15 round mag, modified to full auto. It could be an M2, but I didn't see a selector switch and it only fires once in full auto. Also, the bank robber uses an M1911 variant.Alasdair
I did a quick search for guns in the Simpsons, and got several M41A rifles, a Luger P08, IMI Uzi and M1911, a bunch of AKMs and a M3A1 Grease gun and possible SPAS-12. And there's probably a bunch of others, from what some other users have said in the talk page. This should easily be enough to qualify it, especially given that we have stuff like that Hunger Games article with nothing but a split second appearance of a possible HK91. Geomax (talk) 14:32, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
- I think Hunger Games might be a bit questionable personally but you're still comparing apples to oranges there - That is a real movie with a real firearm in it. Cartoons aren't; As stated they often have firearms that aren't in enough major detail to qualify. Even if that is the case, the page still needs to be fully and professionally constructed, and that seems to have been the other (and I figure, larger) problem here. I think if someone is willing to take the time and effort to build a full-fledged and properly formatted page with good screencaps of the guns in question, as PistolJunkie said above, it might be given an exception, but even that seems to be a big 'if'. Ultimately, it's up to the admins as to what's allowable and what isn't, and if it isn't allowed I see little point in belaboring the issue. I myself get a bit annoyed seeing folks pushing the rules and arguing almost incessantly over questionable articles of media when there are plenty of other incomplete or otherwise subpar pages on the site that could better benefit from such effort. - Please re-read the Rules. Any attempt to create a page will be deleted, that is all. --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:36, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
