F/X is a 1986 action thriller starring Bryan Brown as Roland "Rollie" Tyler, a movie special effects artist who is hired by the CIA to stage a phony hit. When the assassination appears to actually take place, Rollie finds himself using his expertise to evade both the Agency and the police as well as to prove his innocence. A sequel was released in 1991.
The following weapons were used in the film F/X:

Handguns
Colt MK IV Series 80 1911A1
Lipton (Cliff De Young) carries a Colt MK IV Series 80 throughout the film.
Colt Detective Special
A Colt Detective Special is the main sidearm of McCarthy's partner Mickey (Joe Grifasi).
Colt Python
What appears to be a Colt Python is seen in a prop hand in Rollie's place.
Smith & Wesson Model 28
Roland "Rollie" Tyler (Bryan Brown) is seen firing a Smith & Wesson Model 28 loaded with special blanks when demonstrating how he will pull off the special effect hits.
Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose
A Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose appears to be the sidearm carried by NYPD Lt. Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy). Varrick (Tom Noonan) also carries a Model 19 Snub.
Smith & Wesson Model 586
New York State Police appear to carry Smith & Wesson Model 586 revolvers.
Smith & Wesson 59 (nickel)
McCarthy (Brian Dennehy) is also seen with what appears to be a nickel Smith & Wesson 59 towards the end of the film. The weapon appears to have a frame bulge more to the rear of the frame, indicating an older 59 as opposed to a 459/559 (which have frame bulges more slightly forward). The pistol also has low-profile fixed sights, further supporting it as a 59 (2nd Generation S&W autos generally have larger adjustable sights). The gun was previously listed as a Smith & Wesson 5904, which is not possible since the movie was released in 1986, while the 5904 and most other '3rd Generation' S&W autos were made in 1989 and later.
Carbines
M1 Carbine
The assassin enters Rollie's apartment armed with a suppressed M1 Carbine manufactured by Plainfield. Rollie is later seen trying to use the rifle during a scuffle.
Submachine Guns
MP40
In the film's opening, a man in an overcoat opens fire in a restaurant with an MP40.
Uzi
A full size Uzi is seen used by the men guarding Nicholas DeFranco (Jerry Orbach) and Col. Mason (Mason Adams). Rollie, DeFranco, and then Col. Mason are seen using it as well.
Other
Rollie's Weapons
When Lt. Leo McCarthy enters Rollie's apartment, there are several rifles seen on the wall. These appear to be prop weapons as a gas hose is seen attached to one of them.
