Sorcerer is a 1977 thriller directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection). Ostensibly a remake of the 1953 French drama Le Salaire de la peur (The Wages of Fear), the film follows four men (Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Amidou, and Francisco Rabal) each on the run from the law, who embark on a dangerous mission to extinguish a fire at a Venezuelan oil well by delivering a cargo of unstable explosives. The film was a box office disappointment upon its initial theatrical release, which unfortunately coincided with the release of the original Star Wars, but has since gained cult status.
The following weapons were used in the film Sorcerer:
Handguns
MAC Mle 1950
Victor Manzo (Bruno Cremer) is seen finding his business partner having killed himself with a MAC Mle 1950 in order to avoid an impending police investigation in France during the prologue.
Colt Detective Special
During the robbery of a mob-owned bingo parlor at a New Jersey church, one of the robbers uses a suppressed Colt Detective Special.
Star Model B
One of the robbers draws a Star Model B pistol during an argument after the robbery, distracting Jackie Scanlon (Roy Scheider) and causing him to crash the getaway car.
Smith & Wesson Model M&P
Nilo (Francisco Rabal), an assassin, uses what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model M&P revolver throughout the film, firing it several times while the cargo trucks are stuck in the jungle.
M1911A1
Waheeb (Amidou) is seen with what appears to be an M1911A1 when the Israeli soldiers raid the building. A Venezuelan police officer is seen using his M1911A1 to open a Coke bottle.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
Policemen on horseback are seen with what resemble Ithaca 37 shotguns when they confront a crowd of angry protesters. These have black synthetic furniture, atypical for that period, coupled with a black tint of metal parts, making it likely these are rubber prop versions.
Submachine Guns
Uzi
Israeli soldiers pursuing Palestinian terrorist Waheeb (Amidou) in the prologue are armed with Uzis.
MAC-10
The Venezuelan police officer who detains Scanlon after finding his fake passport is armed with a MAC-10.
Smith & Wesson 76
A Palestinian terrorist working with Waheeb is briefly seen with a Smith & Wesson 76 before being shot. One of the Venezuelan guerrillas who attempts to steal the dynamite from Scanlon's truck also carries a S&W 76.
Sten
Another guerrilla is armed with a Sten Mk II submachine gun.
Rifles
Cristobal M2
Oil company guards carry the Cristobal M2. The Cristobal M2 is a assault rifle/carbine hybrid that was designed and manufactured in the Dominican Republic, where the film was shot.
AR-18
Some Venezuelan soldiers are seen firing AR-18 rifles into the air to disperse civilians. A guerrilla is also later seen with an AR-18.
Heckler & Koch G3
Most of the soldiers are armed with early-pattern G3 rifles, which are most prominently seen when they confront a mob angered by the deaths caused by the oil well fire.
M1 Carbine
One guerrilla attempting to steal the dynamite holds a M1 Carbine with a 30-round magazine.
Machine Guns
FN MAG
An FN MAG machine gun can be seen mounted on a Israeli jeep while on patrol in Jerusalem.
