On the Other Side of the Tracks (original title ‘De l’autre Côté du Périph’) is a 2012 French buddy cop comedy about François, an elegant Paris detective, who must to team up with Ousmane, an unconventional detective from the suburb of Bobigny.
In spite of their many differences, as a team they unravel a murder plot that involves some unexpected participants and which that takes them from the Paris high society to the grim suburb of Bobigny.
The following weapons were used in the film On the Other Side of the Tracks:
Handguns
Colt Python
In an apparent hommage to the 1981 Jean-Paul Belmondo movie The Professional, François (Laurent Lafitte) carries a 6” Colt Python, probably the most unlikely sidearm for a French police officer.
SIG Pro SP 2022
True to real life, most French police officers, including Ousmane (Omar Sy), carry the SIG Pro SP 2022. SWAT team members are also seen with this pistol, as well as Daniel (Lionel Abelanski) when he tries to evade capture.
SIG-Sauer P232
Next to the above mentioned Colt Python, François carries a SIG-Sauer P232 as his sidearm through the movie. In the final scene, he hands it to Ousmane who is no longer in possession of his SIG Pro SP 2022.
Beretta 92FS
Yasmine (Sabrina Ouazani), a colleague of Ousmane and François, carries a Beretta 92FS during the shootout with the Van Gogh gang.
Beretta 92FS Inox
Several members of Van Gogh’s gang present Beretta 92FS Inox’s when their hideout is raided by police forces.
CZ 75
One of the members of the Van Gogh gang fires what appears to be a CZ 75B when he is returning fire on police officers from the cover of a gambling table.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
One of the SWAT team members carries a Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with a railed handguard and a RIS foregrip as he and his colleagues raid the location of the Van Gogh gang.
Heckler & Koch UMP45
Another SWAT team member carries a Heckler & Koch UMP45 with a tactical light. It can be recognized by the somewhat bulky receiver and the straight magazine.
Assault Rifles
AIMR
One thug at the illegal gambling establishment grabs an AIMR. This gun being rare, it could be the same one as used in District B13, another recent French action movie.
Shotguns
Short barreled Side by Side Shotgun
While making her escape from the illegal gambling establishment, the girlfriend of the leader of the gang takes a short barreled side by side shotgun from under her furcoat and tries to shoot Ousmane.
Trivia
Tribute to Jean-Paul Belmondo
For unknown reasons, throughout the movie there’s a number of references to the Jean-Paul Belmondo movie The Professional.
Beretta 92 bedside lamp post
In François’ house, a bedside lamp post can be seen that consists of a golden replica of the Beretta 92FS. Interestingly enough, the disassembly lever and the slide release seem to be mounted on the wrong side.
