On the Other Side of the Tracks (original title ‘De l’autre Côté du Périph’) is a 2012 French buddy cop comedy about François, an elegant Paris detective, who must to team up with Ousmane, an unconventional detective from the suburb of Bobigny.

In spite of their many differences, as a team they unravel a murder plot that involves some unexpected participants and which that takes them from the Paris high society to the grim suburb of Bobigny.

The following weapons were used in the film On the Other Side of the Tracks:

Handguns

Colt Python

In an apparent hommage to the 1981 Jean-Paul Belmondo movie The Professional, François (Laurent Lafitte) carries a 6” Colt Python, probably the most unlikely sidearm for a French police officer.

SIG Pro SP 2022

True to real life, most French police officers, including Ousmane (Omar Sy), carry the SIG Pro SP 2022. SWAT team members are also seen with this pistol, as well as Daniel (Lionel Abelanski) when he tries to evade capture.

SIG-Sauer P232

Next to the above mentioned Colt Python, François carries a SIG-Sauer P232 as his sidearm through the movie. In the final scene, he hands it to Ousmane who is no longer in possession of his SIG Pro SP 2022.

Trivia

Tribute to Jean-Paul Belmondo

For unknown reasons, throughout the movie there’s a number of references to the Jean-Paul Belmondo movie The Professional.

One scene at Ousmane’s house shows him watching The Professional while talking to his son.

In the final scene, François even dresses like Jean Paul Belmondo in The Professional with dark leather jacket, light blue shirt and khaki pants.

Beretta 92 bedside lamp post

In François’ house, a bedside lamp post can be seen that consists of a golden replica of the Beretta 92FS. Interestingly enough, the disassembly lever and the slide release seem to be mounted on the wrong side.
