They were not very popular, despite recycling many cannons and mortars which were  for obvious reasons: they barely worked. Nartov had a few more successful ideas in his life. Rotating Cannon Table

Basically it was loosely based on Nartov Mortar System, introduced in 1754 (a few of them were manufactured in Saint Petersburg in Russian Empire). They were not very popular, despite recycling many cannons and mortars which were for obvious reasons: they barely worked. Nartov had a few more successful ideas in his life. It's absurd to think that an antique weapon, little known even in Russia, can be known to Hollywood movie makers. If some prototype of the movie weapon does exist, it is one of Leonardo's designs. Greg-Z (talk) 05:34, 4 January 2014 (EST)
