The Tunnel is a UK/French television mystery crime series that follows two police officers, Detective Chief Inspector Karl Roebuck (Stephen Dillane), a senior Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer with the Kent- based Northbourne Constabulary, and Captain (later Commander) Elise Wassermann (Clémence Poésy) of the Calais Brigade criminelle (Criminal Brigade), part of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) of the French National Police , who have to work together on multiple crimes that take place on the British-French border.
Season 1 sees the two meet for the first time, where they are called to solve the mystery of two severed body halves of different nationalities that are discovered in the Channel Tunnel, and deal with the subsequent actions of the "Truth Terrorist" in both the UK and France.
