Marlene Dietrich (born Marie Magdalene Dietrich, December 27, 1901 – May 6, 1992) was a famous German-American actress and singer. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Marlene Dietrich the ninth greatest female screen legend of classic Hollywood cinema.
N.B. In 1944, Dietrich met U.S. Army Generals George Patton and Omar Bradley while appearing at the USO show in Paris. Both generals gifted her with an engraved handgun: Patton an ivory-handled Belgian .38 revolver, Bradley a Beretta M1934.
