The '''Hotchkiss M1909''' (French: ''Hotchkiss Modèle 1909'') machine gun was developed and built by Hotchkiss et Cie. and adopted in 1909 by the French army firing the 8 mm Lebel. It was also known as ''Hotchkiss Portative'' ("portable Hotchkiss") because of its lesser weight in comparison with heavy machine guns. This machine gun was also adopted in USA as the '''Benet-Mercie Machine Rifle, Caliber .30 U. S. Model of 1909''' for .30-06 caliber. | |||
