You will have great difficulty getting Blu-Ray caps with any modern capture program, Bunni tells me this is because bootleggers were using scripts with older programs to screenshot every frame of a Blu-Ray disc and then stitch them back together into a movie after recording the sound. Sadly any method you can use to take screencaps of a Blu-Ray disc can also be used to pirate one; Ben's using an older player IIRC which hasn't had the screenshot feature removed. Most other methods involve expensive equipment (projectors / capture devices) and are probably not legal in the strictest sense, I know studios have sent Cease & Desists to people on other forums who've posted on how to take high-quality Blu-Ray screenshots. Is this Winchester Model 62A image one you took, or just one you found online?

If it is one you took are your sure that it is actually a Winchester rather than a copy, as the pump looks too bulky and only has 16 grooves rather than the Winchester which has 16. My guess is that it is a Rossi Model 62SA, as that only has 16 grooves on the pump, along with the fact that the logo on the left of the receiver looks like the Rossi one. Below is a picture of (what I think is) a normal Winchester Model 62A with the slimmer pump with 17 grooves:

SL8 with 30 round mag pic
Do you know if this picture of yours is of a real gun or if it is a photoshop mock up? I ask because from what I've read it is a hard conversion to get an SL8-1 to take the 30 round mags requiring machining away the entire crimped part of the receiver, filling the gap with epoxy and then colouring the whole thing. The other reason I ask is that there are a few parts of the SL8 in this picture that are off, such as the vertical ridge at the rear of the receiver above the serial number window. Normally this is at the front of the window, but on this gun it is a few centimetres further back for some reason. The scope rail is also goes slightly too far back at the rear yet is in the correct place everywhere else, and some of the other parts and proportions are sightly off. --commando552 (talk) 08:54, 11 April 2013 (EDT)
:Thanks for getting back to me. If its a real gun then fair enough, it just looked a little "off". Didn't occur to me that the mag could be a dummy 30 stuck on the bottom of a single stack, a much easier solution to all the hacking, slashing ad filling required to do it for real. Only reason I asked about this was that I recently did a bit of a reorg of the SL8 section and wanted to make sure it was captioned correctly.  --commando552 (talk) 12:59, 13 April 2013 (EDT)

:(1) I have been to your talk page and cannot find a way to post a message there. Help, please.
::Sorry about that. I forgot that a my talk page was locked for admins only, and I actually don't remember why. I think it was during the feud with Liam and others (usually from the UK) who were constantly vandalizing our pages. I remember that a particular vandal named Liam seemed overly obsessed with hating me. Well. that seems to be over and my apologies. You were right in that you were unintentionally blocked from writing on my talk page. Thanks for the updates and input MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 17:40, 24 April 2013 (EDT) (
:2) Perhaps you did not notice my edit. I eliminated the words, "one of the most influential films" (which it was, for black directors), and replaced it with the entirely factual "listing on the National Film Registry." Readers are free to decide for themselves the value of such an honor and the film's viewers can decide what to make of the movie.
:For some reason, I cannot find the page, Birth of a Nation, The, on IMFDB, but simply because it was racist should not preclude its inclusion on the list. In any case, the term, "influential," does not insinuate approval, IMHO. Triumph of the Will is undeniably an influential and evil motion picture. By the same token, John Wayne's The Alamo (1960) is considered to be controversial by Hispanics for its alleged racist, revisionist depiction of the Texas War of Independence, but it is still a worthy of inclusion on the IMFDB, in my opinion.
:(3) Your comment did inspire me to create a new category, National Film Registry, of which I hope I have your approval. Thanks.  --Elzzupa (talk) 15:42, 24 April 2013 (PST)

We've allowed films with Tanegashimas in the past, so it'd be hard to disqualify a game with only Tanegashimas. I certainly don't like it, and Ben actually told a user who went on a samurai film spree to stop, but it seems to meet the requirements. The user has provided screencaps, the weapon appears to be clearly identifiable, and it appears to be an eligible title. If he keeps going, we'll probably tell him to focus on other genres though. == About the SPAS ==
Hello, sir! I just felt like asking out of curiosity since you've got lots of experience with the SPAS 12.
How is it that you've handled 6 and they're really bad at functioning when...well, I know comparing experience to YouTube videos are bad but, how come they actually manage to get all 6-8 shots out of their gun in semi-auto? I get that blank-firing doesn't exactly work with that but you mentioned live fire so I thought Id ask.
Thanks! --RandomYoungPerson
P.S. This is the first time Ive actually posted something on an edit or talk page, do you know how to link my name to my page whenever I post things like these like you guys do?

Mortars
Just a question regarding a number of odd-looking mortars I've seen on movie pages; do movies sometimes use fake mortar barrels on real stands and bases? I've seen a couple on the site that seem to have tubes that are thin-walled and longer than they'd normally be, and I'm wondering if they aren't just fabrications with pyro charges in them or something.

These two (from Rambo and Fury) seem to be the same slightly-too-long M1-style 81mm mortar. It resembles a French LLR 81mm, but I wouldn't think that would be a common stand-in for an M1. Any thoughts? == Spy Hard ==
Hey, I noticed that IMFDB has no page for Spy Hard, and I was about to create one when I noticed that there was a page for this movie, but was deleted by you back in 2009. I have no idea what the page looked like back then, but think I have identified pretty much every gun seen in the movie (there's one pistol I'm not sure about) with plenty of screencaps, and I was wondering if I could recreate the page.
::(1) please identify yourself when you post on a user talk page ;)
::(2) Any page that was deleted in the old days was because it was either horribly done at the time or the person used pirate/bootleg images of bad quality.  There is no prohibition against any page being made as long as it is up to the standards of IMFDB and qualifies per the rules and regulations. :D  MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 16:18, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

Question
Hi i from the USA & i am older did 18 & 21 and i am  new to imfdb my question  is how do you remove a picture & put up pictures because in Gangster Squad  Karl/Holt used a World War 2 Browning Automatic Rifle with no carry handle but on the Gangster Squad page it say that he used a early Browning Automatic Rifle but the early ones & the World War 1 version did not have a magazine guide  if you look closely at the  rifle magazine in the picture you can see the magazine guide that mean it's a m1918A2 World War 2 model  so how do i put the correct model & picture up on the page ? or can you change it to the correct model ?

Ten year olds

I think it was Bulgarian kids, and it actually had it's own wiki, which threw me off. For a while, it seemed like he was improving, so I was willing to give him a little rope. He stopped trying to submit his own movie, and Violent Shit and Zombie Panic '90 were actually real feature-length films. I told him that people were unlikely to help him finish pages on grade-Z German horror films, so he moved on to mainstream features. I'm guessing this kid didn't hear "no" a lot from his folks. I wish we could impose an age limit as well, but I don't know how we could possibly enforce it. --Funkychinaman 10:38, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

What I meant was that Violent Shit and Zombie '90 were feature length films NOT made by the kid and otherwise eligible. (How a ten year old got his hands on them and how his parents allowed him to watch them is beyond me.) --Funkychinaman 12:35, 19 August 2012 (CDT)
The name is For Hire. Here's the link to the wiki. (Yes, it has its own wiki.) The kid on kid violence is disturbing. --Funkychinaman 15:29, 20 August 2012 (CDT)

Smith & Wesson 659

Hello. It has been awhile. I got that info about the trigger guard from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson; 3rd Edition by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas, page 293. I also own the 2nd Edition and I just checked it as well. Says the same thing. I and others helped Mr. Nahas (last time I checked he was the curator for the NRA's museum in Virgina now) when he was putting together the 3rd Edition over on the http://smith-wessonforum.com with adding additional info, correcting mistakes and so on. Hell he thanks everybody to include me (Checkman). So I guess I'm taking it as an article of faith that it must be correct since it wasn't changed. However mistakes do happen and sometimes those mistakes get through the cracks and eventually become accepted as correct when they aren't. Hope that helps.--Jcordell (talk) 10:41, 9 September 2012 (EDT)

No problem. Actually I've had a Model 745 on layaway at a local shop. I'll be bringing it home this Friday. I also like the squared trigger guard. The price on the 745 was only $375.00. I'll be posting a photo of it in the near future over on the forum. Smith only made 5,000 745's between 86-90 so the opportunity was too good to let go. Plus at that price I couldn't let it go. Most 745's I see for sale (on the Internet) seem to be priced between 700-800 dollars. --Jcordell (talk) 09:59, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Your Images

I had a thought. You are keeping a running list of images on your user page, which is freaking awesome and if I haven't said this enough I LOVE your images. As I'm sure you have noticed, your user page can be a pain to load because it has SO many images and it's hard to scroll through. Have you considered using the <gallery> code? It might be super helpful... Just food for thought. Your page so you can obviously do whatever the hell you want with it... But could be cool to have a "pistol" gallery, an "AK" gallery, etc. :-p --Zackmann08 (talk) 16:25, 7 March 2013 (EST)

I understand what you mean, many of these new additions must be hard to sort out, but like you said it is good to have them when they appear in something rather then the stress of trying to find them when they do. Also, your trip to South Africa sounds amazing, it would great to get some pictures of exotic weapons that you wouldn't find in the states, I hope you do manage to find a way to get there, and if you do get there, please be careful. As for the gun control debates that have been going on for the past several months, I agree, it's crazy especially with those sad tragedies that have happened over the past year, I just hate it when good and responsibles gun owners or those who work with guns are blamed for the deeds of bad people, and I'm sorry if you have to put up with that kind of harrassment, it can be difficult since people tend to freak out easily these days. Also, I think I would rather prefer real blank adapted firearms then airsoft replicas, sure airsoft can be pretty realistic in terms of details, but blanks make a movie or show much more authentic when comes to guns. Like I said if you need help, just give me the page or image you need worked on, and I'll help out the best I can on it, keep in mind, much has changed since I last did major editing here, so I may not be familiar with the ways the newer users edit the site. Glad to hear from you too, and once again, glad to have you back.--Alienqueen11 (talk) 01:35, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Noticed your note to Ben

The scope rail is also goes slightly too far back at the rear yet is in the correct place everywhere else, and some of the other parts and proportions are sightly off. --commando552 (talk) 08:54, 11 April 2013 (EDT)

Thanks for getting back to me.

Invasion USA

It looks like you can rent it from Amazon Instant for two bucks, eight if you want to keep it. Netflix has it as well, but not for streaming. One of the newer users expressed an interest in finishing it, more power to him. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:13, 11 April 2013 (EDT)

Speaking of Red Scare films, I was just thinking this morning about doing a page for Big Jim McLain. I should do it back to back with Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:25, 11 April 2013 (EDT)
My pleasure. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:26, 11 April 2013 (EDT)
Looks like you get to save your $6. --Funkychinaman (talk) 02:41, 12 April 2013 (EDT)
I was going to finish this, unless you want to. --Ben41 (talk) 19:17, 12 April 2013 (EDT)
This film did not get better with age. --Ben41 (talk) 02:56, 13 April 2013 (EDT)

Usual Suspects

I will see what I can do. --Ben41 (talk) 23:35, 14 April 2013 (EDT)

The Spook Who Sat by the Door

(1) I have been to your talk page and cannot find a way to post a message there. Help, please.
Sorry about that. Thanks for the updates and input MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 17:40, 24 April 2013 (EDT) (
2) Perhaps you did not notice my edit. I eliminated the words, "one of the most influential films" (which it was, for black directors), and replaced it with the entirely factual "listing on the National Film Registry." Readers are free to decide for themselves the value of such an honor and the film's viewers can decide what to make of the movie.
For some reason, I cannot find the page, Birth of a Nation, The, on IMFDB, but simply because it was racist should not preclude its inclusion on the list.
(3) Your comment did inspire me to create a new category, National Film Registry, of which I hope I have your approval. Thanks. --Elzzupa (talk) 15:42, 24 April 2013 (PST)

Watermark Your Images

What do you think about adding the IMFDB logo on the images that you haven't done so already? Like the Model 29? --Ben41 (talk) 03:36, 11 January 2014 (EST)

Who is this? I don't answer anonymous posts. This has been a long time policy with me :D Sorry. MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 02:06, 11 January 2014 (EST)
According to your page history, it was Ben41. It's weird how only part of the signature is there. --Funkychinaman (talk) 02:37, 11 January 2014 (EST)
I thought maybe of the adding the logo to your images, but it's probably better that you do it. You could probably just redo the most popular images such as the Model 29 and MP5 images. --Ben41 (talk) 02:46, 13 January 2014 (EST)

Breaking Bad

When I split a page up into separate seasons, I put the original code in one of the unused discussion pages so I can access it more conveniently. --Ben41 (talk) 02:46, 13 January 2014 (EST)

I'll make sure that I remove the categories on the old code in the future. --Ben41 (talk) 02:38, 14 January 2014 (EST)

Re: Hey! You're back!

Great to see you too, MPM2008. I have quite a bit of free time on my hands quite often, and I noticed that the seasons of Heroes were in dire need of a revamp, so I decided to return to screencapping and give them a redo. So, how has life been with you, how's work and the movie business coming along? Also, do you have any new gun pictures coming soon? I understand if you're busy. Anyway, thanks for the hello, hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well.--Alienqueen11 (talk) 03:47, 25 January 2014 (EST)

Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!

(What do you think about Virtua Cop?) --Funkychinaman (talk) 04:10, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

I suppose #4 would not apply here. We're also assuming this is the only weapon in the game. I'll ask the guy. --Funkychinaman (talk) 04:24, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

About the SPAS

Book of Eli

Yes, the user had contributed a few more screen used weapons, and since there wasn't an image of the other side, I put that there. If you want to upload the opposite picture, I'll put that one up on the page and place the other one on the discussion page. --Ben41 (talk) 02:14, 13 December 2014 (EST)

Hi

Hey, man, are you still around? Check out what I wrote on (Timecop) - Custom Assault Pistol. I've managed to get an ID on our mystery Canadian machine pistols. -MT2008 (talk) 14:19, 2 February 2015 (EST)

Evil Tim (talk) 18:33, 12 February 2015 (EST)

Spy Hard

Hey, I noticed that IMFDB has no page for Spy Hard, and I was about to create one when I noticed that there was a page for this movie, but was deleted by you back in 2009. I have no idea what the page looked like back then, but think I have identified pretty much every gun seen in the movie (there's one pistol I'm not sure about) with plenty of screencaps, and I was wondering if I could recreate the page.

(1) please identify yourself when you post on a user talk page ;)
(2) Any page that was deleted in the old days was because it was either horribly done at the time or the person used pirate/bootleg images of bad quality. There is no prohibition against any page being made as long as it is up to the standards of IMFDB and qualifies per the rules and regulations. :D MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 16:18, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

John Doe

I apologize if anything is missing on the John Doe (2002) page. I saw that there were empty entries with no weapons images and wanted to help you out. I go ahead and let you finish. --Ben41 (talk) 21:33, 24 May 2015 (EDT)
