The FBI Story is a 1959 crime drama starring James Stewart as FBI Special Agent John Michael ('Chip') Hardesty. The film covers the colorful career of Agent "Chip" Hardesty from 1924 to the late 1950's. Along the way he tangles with everything from the Ku Klux Klan to a bomber that commits mass murder for the insurance money. His fiercest exploits came in the 30's when he stares down a gun barrel at Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd, Machine Gun Kelly, Ma Barker and John Dillinger.
