Blackthorn is a 2011 Western directed by Mateo Gil. Set in Bolivia in 1927 (20 years after the famous shootout depicted in the 1968 film), the story focuses on an older Butch Cassidy (Sam Shepard) who's now living a quiet life as James Blackthorn. He comes across a Spaniard (Eduardo Noriega) who is being pursued by a Bolivian posse, and reluctantly decides to help him.
