The Dictator is a 2012 American comedy directed by Larry Charles (Borat) starring Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris, and Ben Kingsley. Baron Cohen stars as Admiral General Aladeen, despot of the fictional North African country of Wadiya, which appears to take the place of Eritrea on the map. Typical for his movies, Baron Cohen promoted the film in character, including an appearance at the 84th Academy Awards.
