Degtyaryov DS-39 ( Russian : Дегтярёва Станковый образца 1939 года ) was a Soviet medium machine gun, designed by Vasily Degtyaryov, that was used during the World War II. It was intended as a replacement for outdated Maxim M1910/30 but the weapon showed it unreliable in service, and the production stopped in June 1941. Only about 10,000 DS-39 were manufactured.
