Chouans! is a 1988 French historical adventure romance film directed by Philippe de Broca based on the 1829 novel Les Chouans by Honoré de Balzac. The story introduces us to the aftermath of the French Revolution, where the newly-created republic faces off against royalist rebels, called Chouans, led by Count de Kerfadec (Philippe Noiret).
