Looks good, the H&K logo looks a bit big. Good luck with Smith & Wesson! --[[User:Predator20|Predator20]] 23:36, 23 December 2011 (CST)

:Thank you for the reply, and sorry I misjudged you (to be honest, I didn't notice the discussion, so I did think you were some foolish n00b who was changing things without consulting admins). I thought that I was simply upholding a decision that the rest of the staff had agreed to a long time ago. At the very least, I guess we should discuss the matter again in the topic - and clearly, the forum's not such a good place, since we have too many problems with spammers. And Happy Holidays to you, too. -[[User:MT2008|MT2008]] 10:01, 24 December 2011 (CST)

::Looks good. I'm a mod here. I really like the Colt page. The S&W page is going to be an intensive piece of labor for you. I agree with bunni. We need a category for these new pages. --[[User:Jcordell|Jcordell]] 16:30, 27 December 2011 (CST)

I've been collecting S&W revolvers for several years. S&W has always been a very organized company with outstanding records. Better organized company in so many aspects. In the past couple of years I've gotten into Colt revolvers and I've learned that getting information about the various Colt handguns is very challenging. For most of it's history Colt was rather scatter-shot in it's approach. For example they would have different models use the same serial number range (Official Police and .38 spl Officer Model Target pre-WWII), but the Pre-WWII Officer Model Target .22LR had it's own serial numbers.Why? Who knows? Other models (such as the Theur derringer) would be made for decades and Colt has little to no written records about the models. For example the serial numbers will not tell you what year an individual derringer was made. And then you have the Official Police model and it's variants. Over 700,000 made over a seventy year period. Very challenging. I like the colt double action revolvers, but I can see why colt has almost gone out of business and S&W is still prospering. Hopefully Colt's fairly new management can fix things. --[[User:Jcordell|Jcordell]] 17:37, 27 December 2011 (CST)

sorry zackman, i know this isn't the right place to talk to you, but I cannot find the right place, so here goes...
I have made an edit and would like to upload a photograph to support it, but I cannot find any instructions on how to do it. how do I upload photographs to a page?

The change to remove the poster image was so that the Main Page would better fit smaller screens. Yes, anyone can suggest a Featured Article, I agree it would be better if there was more turn over in the articles. [[User:Bunni|bunni]] 00:13, 15 February 2012 (CST)

I think he was on the right track changing this (but went abut it the wrong way), as the current image we have for the Model 1 is not a Model 1. If you look at the one in the history (which is a Model 1 first issue) you can see that there are quite a few differences. I'll sort it out with some better pictures of the first, second and third issues for reference to clear it up.  --[[User:Commando552|commando552]] 10:43, 24 August 2012 (CDT)

== Identifying revolvers  ==
== Deleting screenshots ==

Just a tip when adding screenshots of revolvers that are hard to identify:
Is there any way to delete a screenshot without actually have to access the page?  A screenshot I've uploaded for the film ''[[The Rundown]]'' now causes the page to not load and I would like to delete that jpg and a few others.  Here are the filenames:
<nowiki>File:Rund.jpg  File:Rundown.jpg  File:Therundown.jpg</nowiki>

1.  Try to find a side shot showing the release lever (these will help identify whether the revolver is an S&W or a Colt).
If you try to click on this files, you will be taken to a blank page with the following warning:

2. A shot of the ejector rod below the barrel
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 11908 bytes) in /home/imfdb/public_html/w/includes/media/Bitmap.php on line 213

3.  A shot that shows if the revolver has an exposed hammer.

I realize that you won't always be able to find these shots, but just something to keep in mind.   --[[User:Ben41|Ben41]] 20:08, 27 February 2012 (CST)

Thanks. I was totally lost on how to go about setting that up. [[User:Spartan198|Spartan198]] ([[User talk:Spartan198|talk]]) 02:22, 8 October 2012 (EDT)

:Ben's criteria for distinguishing SIGs is way too vague. Both the 220 and the 226 have longer slides than the 228 and 229. Basically, if you want to tell whether it's a 226, also look at the trigger guard (it's squared, rather than rounded, like on the 228 and 229). As for distinguishing the 228 from the 229, they're almost the same gun, but the cocking serrations on the 229's slide only reach halfway up the height of the slide, whereas the 228's go to the top. Compare pictures and you'll notice the differences. -[[User:MT2008|MT2008]] 09:16, 10 March 2012 (CST)

I have a question. The only page you need to put a weapon that was in a game or movie? Can you put a weapon which does not exist anywhere else? What do you think about the parties modify their weapons for a more transparent? You can put up to each party table with a gallery to gallery site structure is not spoiled. For example, I did [[MP40]]. What do you think? So I can edit every weapon that is in service, you can also put a single table.  --[[User:Mateogala|Mateogala]] 16:30, 20 March 2012 (CDT)

I removed your image because your image shows a newer-model P226 with a rail and short-reset trigger, while the gun used in that episode of the show is an original German-made 226 without the frame rail. :There's no need to apologize. :)  Also, the two-tone 226 in CSI:NY is the same one that appears in ''[[Bad Boys II]]'' and a few episodes of ''[[Burn Notice]]''. I don't think it's a factory two-tone gun, or else it would have nickel controls. I think it was made by taking the slide from a nickel 226 and fitting it to a regular blued frame, which is why it retains the standard blued controls. I keep wondering if ISS built that 226 and the one from ''[[2 Fast 2 Furious]]'' simultaneously by swapping out parts from one blued 226 and one nickel 226. It would explain a lot. -[[User:MT2008|MT2008]] 22:55, 20 March 2012 (CDT)

::Movie guns get reused in lots of different productions, because the armory that owns them will rent them out to other productions in order to keep making money from the gun's usage (the most obvious example is the ''[[Timecop]]'' Taurus pistols, which have also appeared on all of the ''[[Stargate]]'' TV shows and a million other productions filmed in Canada). It doesn't really matter whether the actor handling the gun is a major character in the show or not.
I'd watch that one closely, there's a curious lack of anything specific to this site in their user description and it's a name / name spambot-like title. [[User:Evil Tim|Evil Tim]] ([[User talk:Evil Tim|talk]]) 02:36, 17 December 2012 (EST)

No, you are the one who is mistaken. Look at the trigger group; it only has 2 positions - Safe and Semi, making this a civilian AR-15 A2 HBAR. A true M16A2 would have a third position for the 3-round burst mode. [[User:Orca1 9904|Orca1 9904]] 04:11, 25 March 2012 (CDT)

== RE: AR-15 Gallery  ==
==Questioning my change==
(edit) sorry, I was fixing a change I was going to make.  The original maker identified the gun as a '''Stainless''' Model 36.  Since there is no Stainless 36, I changed it to a Model 60 (which would be the correct identifier for that model if made in SS).  You should bring up your challenge to them, not me. :D  As to what I as doing - I recently uploaded a correct S&W model 36 nickel plated 1st gen photo.  The photo I had uploaded previously was mislabeled as a stainless Model 36.  It was actually a photo of a Satin Stainless Model 60.  At the time I took the first old photo, the owner (not me) quipped that it was a Stainless Model 60.  I was not as educated about S&W model nomenclature as I am now, so I loaded the pic as such.  But what he meant (and what I later learned myself) that he was merely describing the "Model 60" as "the stainless Model 36".  Anyway, enough backstory about the pics, but that is why I'm fixing pages which used the Model 60 pic as a 'nickel' Model 36.  And any page that utilizes the Model 60 description, I either put in a correct pic of a Model 60 or did minor grammar or spelling changes.  I left the gun IDs to the creators of the pages. [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] ([[User talk:MoviePropMaster2008|talk]]) 15:08, 7 March 2013 (EST)

I have actually made an "Colt AR-15 Identification Guide" page but haven't uploaded it yet that has the table I put on my user page, but the main addition is a glossary at the bottom of the page that will link from the text in the table, and will have pictures of the various different parts (such as different upper receivers and stocks, stuff like that). Its nearly ready, I just need to get around to uploading the pictures of the various parts. This is only for Colt variants though (would be way to complicated if it included other companies weapons as that starts getting into aftermarket or unique parts) so I think it is worth having both this and the gallery, as that includes non Colt weapons, guns derived from the AR-15 design and 7.62 weapons. I'll have a look through the gallery and sort out the Colt variants, particular the carbines with just the model number as these are particularly troublesome. Also these carbines were not civilian rifles, so will move them to the military section.  --[[User:Commando552|commando552]] 07:09, 25 March 2012 (CDT)

The MPM gallery DOES look great.  Thanks.  I do tend to keep the pics in chronological order on my user page because it's my way of remembering 'when' i uploaded 'what' and during what month. LOL.  Weird, but it helps me remember what bulk uploads I did in the past.  Noting the 'timeline' of when I do stuff helps me mentally keep track of what work has been done and what needs to be done.  But the Gallery is a cool tool.  Hope you like the new pic uploads.  Some of the pics might not merit their own page yet, until the model is used in a movie/tv show/game/anime.  But I want to make sure IMFDB has a record of the image when it is needed.  I will probably look more at the Gallery style when I have a bit more time.  Right now I have a time period when I'm grabbing as many gun pics as I can. :D  best regards [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] ([[User talk:MoviePropMaster2008|talk]]) 01:09, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Always be ''very'' careful when uploading new grenade pics; there's a fairly high chance that a good picture of a grenade found online is actually an Airsoft grenade, as with that M84 grenade pic you uploaded which is a G&G M84 replica (you can tell because of the screw-in base and the triangular pin being in the primary pin hole, which should have a round pin). Also, it looks clean and real grenades age five years the second they're issued. Nobody knows why. [[User:Evil Tim|Evil Tim]] 11:16, 27 March 2012 (CDT)

I couldn't make out what barrel it had from the caps as they are either from the front in shadow or from the back. If it doesn't have the threaded barrel could be a regular USP with Tactical sights, or it could be a Tactical with a standard barrel, I can't tell. If you get a better look at the side of the slide you will be able to tell from the markings, but that would be the only way. Also, while I'm here I don't think the P226 Elite is one, as it doesn't have the front slide serrations. My guess would be that it is a custom gun using a standard slide with the beaver-tail frame. --[[User:Commando552|commando552]] 18:10, 3 April 2012 (CDT)

== An explanation of the numbering protocol I came up with ==

==XM25 mag size==
Hi there.  I noticed that early on during your tenure at IMFDB you undid a naming protocol that I did for the Smith & Wesson Revolvers.  I am hoping that you understand WHY I did this and why removing it screws up the order upon which the guns appear in the listing.  At the bottom of the page (take Smith & Wesson Model 1 for example) I put in the name "Smith & Wesson Model 001" for a specific reason.  Utilizing the three digit naming nomenclature (at the bottom of the page) allows the models to be correctly listed by name in the proper order when looking at the list of gun pages. That way, the Model 1 does NOT come after the Model 10.  I've pointed this out to other members at the (before you were on IMFDB) so you may not have caught that reason.  Hope this helps. Just wanted to explain what the reason was for putting this at the bottom of the page and why I ask others not to remove it.  Thanks. :D  [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] ([[User talk:MoviePropMaster2008|talk]]) 02:09, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Sorry about the email. This whole site is a bit confussing and I'm trying my best to provide the proper information. All I know is that the Webley MK III photo is a .38 version and not a .455. I don't know how to "fix" it. Also don't know where the "discussion" page is. So sorry but I'm just trying to provide correct info. Thanks
For some Strange reason, I thought you asked me a question on email and now that I've went and answered it, it turns out that I messed up and had a case of mistaken identity.  My apologies for 'wasting the space on your talk page'.   LOL  '''Just wanted to explain what the reason was for putting this at the bottom of the page and why I ask others not to remove it at the time. == Infoboxes ==
== Pictures usable ==

I like the idea of the infobox templates you have made, they make the process much easier which which will hopefully encourage people to use them. One small suggestion though, I think it would be better if the image size for the poster/cover art was set to 300px rather than 400px. In the past the "default" size for the pics at the top of pages has been 300px so that is what people who have added the poster have gone by meaning that in many cases the original picture is less than 400px so it gets stretched making it look pixelated when the template is used. --[[User:Commando552|commando552]] 15:20, 24 April 2012 (CDT)
I joined IMFDB firstly because the page for the AMC show Hell on Wheels was sorely lacking in content and I wish to improve that. I am not able to get my hand on an American DVD release of Hell on Wheels (as per the IMFDB regulations) but I do have a paid netflix account from which I was able to pull screenshots for the firearms I wish to add for the page (namely the Winchester Model 1866, the Henry Model 1860 and Elam`s "Arkansas Toothpick"). I just wanted to check whether these images are okay to upload and use for the television shows page before hand as to avoid any warnings or getting banned.

Sure, no problem! I much prefer the infobox to sifting through lines of text. I also think that we should do it for each season, as the cast may change throughout the show and it would be nice to show the number episodes in each. It happens not with all such letters. For example, '''š''' can be used correctly, but using '''ć''' (in the name of Serbian actor) or '''ă''' (in the title of Romanian movie) results in error. It happens only when using such letters in hyperlinks. In common text they can be used without any problem. I have already posted a topic about this problem on IMFDB forum but had no answer.

I use a new template because the old one does not include some important information about the weapons. Since this information page, why all the time is used in one and incomplete template? Old template does not have information about the factory, and this information is important. So I will continue to apply your template.
Is it possible to solve this problem now or in future? Thanks in advance. [[User:Greg-Z|Greg-Z]] ([[User talk:Greg-Z|talk]]) 03:43, 9 May 2013 (EDT)

Questioning my change

(edit) sorry, I was fixing a change I was going to make. The original maker identified the gun as a Stainless Model 36. I looked for the add media button like google said, but can't find it. So maybe it's a privilege issue? I was hoping I could see the code on an existing post as well, but I can't seem to do that either. --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:30, 12 March 2013 (EDT)
I see it now. Is there any way to link to existing images on the site or do we just have to upload everything? --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:43, 12 March 2013 (EDT)
I uploaded a few shots and put them in the post, but I can't generate a preview. I tried clearing my cookies, but I still can't get a preview. I'll try it when I get home. --Funkychinaman (talk) 18:58, 15 March 2013 (EDT)

Gallery

:D best regards MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 01:09, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

CSI

You don't want to keep the CSI page around as a hub? --Funkychinaman (talk) 20:05, 22 March 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, I figured that when you called it a drive-by. --Funkychinaman (talk) 21:42, 22 March 2013 (EDT)

RE: Star Wars

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I am unable to do a blog post about it, but it seems to be a very interesting and good subject to write about though. - Kenny99 (talk) 00:55, 27 March 2013 (EDT)

Case

You mean like this? --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:42, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

Although I suppose this is far more iconic. --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:57, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

An explanation of the numbering protocol I came up with

Thanks. :D MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 02:09, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Forget this comment by me, LOL

For some Strange reason, I thought you asked me a question on email and now that I've went and answered it, it turns out that I messed up and had a case of mistaken identity. My apologies for 'wasting the space on your talk page'. LOL Just wanted to explain what the reason was for putting this at the bottom of the page and why I ask others not to remove it at the time. For some reason I thought you asked me as to why that was the case. Now that I look back, I can't find any query email from. Ok forget it. Sorry for the mixup. LOL Thanks. :D MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 02:12, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Pictures usable

IMFDB upgrade

Hi Zackmann, the crowd funding campaign is a perfect idea, congrats on the way you have presented it to the IMFDB community! The enthusiasm and knowledge of all contributors has pleasantly surprised me from the day I joined, but indeed it would be a very good thing if life was made a little bit simpler. I am most definitely making an effort in the coming days to support your initiative. Keep up the good work, PeeWee055 (talk) 16:40, 3 May 2013 (EDT)

A problem with letters with diacritical signs in hyperlinks

Sorry to disturb you for such a minor problem but I need some technical help. When I'm trying to to create a hyperlink for a name or title that has letters with diacritical signs I encounter the following problem:

---

Database error

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "LinkHolderArray::replaceInternal". Database returned error "1271: Illegal mix of collations for operation ' IN ' (192.168.130.4)".

---

It happens not with all such letters. For example, š can be used correctly, but using ć (in the name of Serbian actor) or ă (in the title of Romanian movie) results in error. It happens only when using such letters in hyperlinks. In common text they can be used without any problem. I have already posted a topic about this problem on IMFDB forum but had no answer.

Is it possible to solve this problem now or in future? Thanks in advance. Greg-Z (talk) 03:43, 9 May 2013 (EDT)

A question

Hi. I have a question about the merchandise on Rockethub; If I purchase, say 2 t-shirts (the international shipping ones) outside US, is the price of shipping included in the price of the t-shirt (40$ a piece)? --Warejaws (talk) 14:49, 13 May 2013 (EDT)

Forum login

Hey Zackmann, I apologize for not replying to your last message. I would like to report an email I got in my inbox, it says someone tried to log into my account five times on the forums, so I think someone maybe trying to hack accounts there. The email says the ip address of the one doing it is 188.143.232.144. If you would like me to forward this to Bunni or someone else, I will do so. Also good work contributing to the site, I appreciate your hard work and dedication, if you need help, drop me a line, and I will get to it as soon as possible. Thanks.--Alienqueen11 (talk) 17:45, 14 May 2013 (EDT)

Thank you for looking into this, Zackmann, and lol no, I have never been to Russia at all. We have had problems with foreign users in the past, and I hope you get to the bottom of this. I will be sure to check the RocketHub and try to help if money isn't too tight. Thank you for your consideration. --Alienqueen11 (talk) 20:27, 14 May 2013 (EDT)

Weird user account.

Doing a Blog

I've been following the Anime and guns articles and would like to make my own contributions since I'm a die hard anime fan, specifically of the kinds with guns in them. Excalibur01 (talk) 13:13, 18 July 2013 (EDT)

IMFDB upgrade: dispatch schedule products

Hi Zackmann, just a question about the IMFDB upgrade fund-raising project that came up in May. I ordered a few small items and I was just curious when I could expect them. I know there's probably a zillion things on your mind, but I would appreciate if you could give me a small update. By the way, I honestly feel it is a pity that not enough funds could be raised. Keep up the good work and thanks in advance, PeeWee055 (talk) 04:39, 22 August 2013 (EDT)

Hi Zackmann08, thanks for the response. I'll just wait a few more weeks, don't worry. I live in Holland and ordered a patch and a sticker (sorry, I am temporarily on a very tight budget...) so I guess that should be send pretty easily. Take care, PeeWee055 (talk) 08:39, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
Hi Zackmann08, just checking to see if you have received an e-mail from me that I send through support@imfdb.org on 24th October. You were saying that all goods from the fundraiser would be shipped by September 1st but so far I have not received anything. That e-mail contains my payment details which should be helpful to determine what's been happening. Thanks a lot for letting me know, PeeWee055 (talk) 09:04, 6 November 2013 (EST)
Hi Zackmann, thanks for the quick response. I just resend my last month's e-mail to support@imfdb.org. Thanks for checking, PeeWee055 (talk) 15:10, 6 November 2013 (EST)
Hi Zackmann08, hello from Holland! Any news on my above resend e-mail of 6th November? I was hoping to hear from you about some stuff that I ordered and paid to support IMFDB on 5th May (...). Dispatch would be September latest but I still have not received anything, be it my order or a dispatch schedule. Maybe I better resend the above e-mail to a different mail address or contact Rockethub myself? Please let me know if I should wait to receive anything or maybe consider my payment to be a general 'gift' to IMFDB? Looking forward to hear from you and thanks in advance for checking, PeeWee055 (talk) 10:47, 25 November 2013 (EST)

Thank you!

Thank you for promoting me to Admin status! I'll try to do the best I can for the IMFDB, and not fail. Greg-Z (talk) 02:30, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

Access to Admin discussion section

Hello! May I ask you to provide me access to the Admin discussion section? Thanks in advance! Greg-Z (talk) 11:25, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

Server issues

Any ideas regarding all the editing downtime we've been having recently? We've had 12+ hour blackouts where nobody could edit, login or upload images and we're kind of wondering what's going on. Seems uploads just went down again, too. Evil Tim (talk) 15:26, 9 November 2013 (EST)

Hey

Good to see you back, it's been a while. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:44, 2 October 2014 (EDT)
