Alan Arkin (1934-2023) was an Academy-Award winning American actor and director who is well known to movie audiences for his comedic roles in such films as ''[[Catch-22 (1970)]]'', ''[[The In-Laws (1979)]]'', and ''[[The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming]]'', a role for which he received the first of three Academy Award nominations. He would receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2006 film ''Little Miss Sunshine''. In addition, he has appeared in several dramatic roles in such films as ''[[Argo]]'', ''Glengarry Glen Ross'' and ''[[The Rocketeer]]'' and directed several features, including 1971's ''Little Murders''. He also was the father of fellow actor and director [[Adam Arkin]]. He passed away at the age of 89 in June of 2023. | |||

He would receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine. In addition, he has appeared in several dramatic roles in such films as Argo, Glengarry Glen Ross and The Rocketeer and directed several features, including 1971's Little Murders. He also was the father of fellow actor and director Adam Arkin. He passed away at the age of 89 in June of 2023.
