Age of Heroes is a 2011 British World War II action film that focuses on the 30 Commando Troop - the forerunners to the SAS that was created by James Bond author Ian Fleming (who was working in British Naval Intelligence during the war). The film stars Sean Bean and Danny Dyer and follows the unit during a top secret mission in occupied Norway.
The following weapons were used in the film Age of Heroes:
Handguns
Colt M1911A1
The men of 30 Commando Troop, noticeably Corporal Bob Rains (Danny Dyer) and contact Liv Jensen (Izabella Miko - who acquired it from the commandos) are armed with Colt M1911A1 pistols.
Luger P08
A Waffen SS officer (Richard Stephens) and several German soldiers use the Luger P08. 30 Commando Troop also use it in training.
Webley Mk VI
Corporal Bob Rains (Danny Dyer) uses a captured Webley Mk VI to hold Major Jack Jones (Sean Bean) at gunpoint and secure his escape from Military Prison.
Submachine Guns
M1928A1 Thompson
The M1928A1 Thompson, mostly fitted with a simplified rear sight, is the main weapon of 30 Commando Troop, including Major Jones (Sean Bean) and Rains (Danny Dyer).
MP40
The main weapon of the German troops in Norway is the MP40, most notably a Waffen SS soldier (Dominic Ryan) who uses it to execute Norwegian civilians for aiding the resistance. 30 Commando Troop use captured MP40s in training to familiarize with German weaponry; Sergeant Gray (Tony Hood) also uses a captured MP40 in combat. Most of the MP40s seen in the film are airsoft replicas, if not all. This is evidenced by the fact that most of the guns don't eject any shells, and the CGI muzzle flashes have been added in post-production.
Rifles
Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III*
The Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III* rifle is used by Corporal Rains (Danny Dyer) and his comrades during the prologue in Dunkirk.
Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I (T)
Sharpshooter Riley (Guy Burnet) is armed with a scoped Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I (T) rifle.
Karabiner 98k
Several occupying Waffen SS troops in Norway are armed with Karabiner 98k rifles.
Shotguns
Charles Parker 1878 Side by Side Shotgun
Norwegian resistance contact Liv Jensen (Izabella Miko) is armed with a Charles Parker 1878 Side by Side Shotgun.
Machine Guns
Bren Mk1
Corporal Brightling (Stephen Martin Walters) carries a Bren Mk1 in training. This weapon does not make an appearance in combat in Norway.
MG42
Sergeant MacKenzie (William Houston) commandeers an MG42 during the attack on the German base, using it to great effect. Since the film is set in 1941, its appearance is anachronistic.
Grenades
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
30 Commando Troop use the Model 24 Stielhandgranate in training and combat.
