Collateral is a 2004 American crime thriller starring Jamie Foxx as Max, a Los Angeles taxi driver who befriends Vincent (Tom Cruise), a passenger he picks up and who turns out to be a hired killer contracted to perform several jobs before the night is out. The film was directed by Michael Mann and Cruise underwent extensive weapons training with a former SAS soldier, including firing live ammunition.

Vincent (Tom Cruise) carries a Heckler & Koch USP in .45 ACP which we see him use several times. Of particular note for this film is that Cruise, as Vincent, fires the first five rounds with deliberate aim against two targets in less than one and a half seconds. This results in obvious physical, but also dramatic and cinematic impact as it demonstrates that Vincent's degree of skill and focus is clearly on a different level than that of the armed street thugs he encounters. Michael Mann also specifically says in the DVD commentary that Vincent's USP is the .45 ACP model. It is also namechecked in the script as an "HK .45".
Vincent (Tom Cruise) carries a Heckler & Koch USP in .45 ACP which we see him draw and fire several times. Cruise trained on a LA County Sheriff's Department range in combat scenarios with a former SAS (British Special Air Service) operator, with live ammunition to increase his competency with a pistol, according to Michael Mann's DVD commentary. Cruise did not have live ammunition experience with a pistol prior to shooting "Collateral". Mann also specifically says in the DVD commentary that Vincent's USP is the .45 ACP model. It is also namechecked in the script as an "HK .45".
[[Image:CollateralUSP-45-0.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Vincent retrieves his briefcase with six rounds of .45 ACP. After double tapping the first thug, he uses the "Mozambique Drill" against the second. A note of interest: In the script, the goal of this confrontation was to be 5 shots in 1.6 seconds. Tom Cruise clocked in at 1.39 seconds, beating the script.

Ruger Mk II Pistol
Special
Prior to Collateral, Tom Cruise did not have live ammunition experience with a pistol and thus underwent extensive firearms training former SAS (British Special Air Service) operator Mick Gould and former LAPD SWAT officer Chic Daniel in order to reflect the Special Forces training that his character would have. Cruise trained in several combat scenarios using live ammunition on the LA Sheriff's Department shooting range.

Vincent (Tom Cruise) assassinates Daniel (Barry Shabaka Henley) with a suppressed Ruger Mk II Pistol chambered for .22 LR. He catches his head before it smashes on the table, but in reality the suppressed shots would be louder than the slam anyway, though this is possibly to keep the blood from splashing over the table, so the ruse that Daniel is just sleeping will last longer.
Ruger Mk II
(An interesting note: Named in the script as a .22 Ruger with a thick, silent barrel.)

Steyr SPP
Steyr SPP
A Steyr SPP is seen in the hands of a bodyguard at Club Fever. The Steyr Special Purpose Pistol is the civilian version of the Steyr TMP. The major concessions the civilian model makes are the removal of the foregrip and the lack of full-auto firing capability which is rather evident since the bodyguard is only seen firing it semi-auto (the full-auto bursts are heard offscreen). Vincent was originally supposed to use one of these to take out a guard before using his USP.

The following weapons were used in the film Collateral:

Handguns

Heckler & Koch USP45

Vincent does a brass check on his USP45 before going to kill the second witness in the penthouse. Note that his finger is safely off the trigger, as is fitting behavior of a highly-trained ex-military assassin.

Vincent retrieves his briefcase with six rounds of .45 ACP. After double tapping the first thug, he uses the "Mozambique Drill" against the second. A note of interest: In the script, the goal of this confrontation was to be 5 shots in 1.6 seconds. Tom Cruise clocked in at 1.39 seconds, beating the script.

Ruger Mk II

Vincent (Tom Cruise) assassinates Daniel (Barry Shabaka Henley) with a suppressed (AAC Phoenix integrated suppressor) Ruger Mk II chambered for .22 LR. He catches Daniel's head before it smashes on the table, but in reality the suppressed shots would be louder than the slam anyway, though this is possibly to keep the blood from splashing over the table, so the ruse that Daniel is just sleeping will last longer. Vincent loses this gun when Max (Jamie Foxx) throws Vincent's briefcase off the bridge, as it can briefly be seen lying on the highway. (An interesting note: Named in the script as a .22 Ruger with a thick, silent barrel.)

Smith & Wesson 3913

Detective Fanning (Mark Ruffalo) carries a Smith & Wesson 3913 as his sidearm. He most notably wields it when he goes to Ramone's (Thomas Rosales Jr.) apartment. (In the script, this gun was named as a Beretta.)

Smith & Wesson 5906

Vincent takes a Smith & Wesson 5906 from the desk guard he kills at the Federal building and uses it as he hunts down his final target, Annie (Jada Pinkett Smith). (In the script, Vincent would have had this gun as a back-up weapon.)

SIG-Sauer P232

One of the robbers (Steven Kozlowski) pulls a SIG-Sauer P232 on Max when he calls for help when tied up in the cab. The robber also points it at Vincent when he confronts them for his briefcase before being killed. (In the script, this gun was simply named as a "Chrome .380".)
