I've never even heard of this one. Of course it could be one of those many Smiths that just wasn't around very long. Is it supposed to be the early L-frame (pre-586/686), or simply a full-lugged K-frame to match the 586/686? (It doesn't look quite as big as a L-frame, though I could be wrong) [[User:StanTheMan|StanTheMan]] 16:15, 13 July 2011 (CDT)

: EDIT - Looking through one of my old-ass Smith catalogs (1997, to be exact), it states the Model 581 is the first L-frame so I guess part of my question is answered. I suppose the 86s replaced the 81s at some point or something. Still, I never heard of them so again, I figure they weren't around long (Like the 696 and some other S&W wheelguns I've heard of) [[User:StanTheMan|StanTheMan]] 16:31, 13 July 2011 (CDT)
