I was thinking about it lately, and it appears that this page is too long, sometimes hard to load up, and a bit... messy. Although not a major issue, I would have suggest creating a page for ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead and all of its DLCs since the game considered to be a stand-alone expansion pack and doesn't need the original ArmA 2. | |||

- I'd say it had a lot to do with the decision of another user to group the weapon by game/DLC and to add that lengthy intro for each DLC at the beginning of the page (which is unnecessary since we are talking about the weapons - they can go figure out the plot details elsewhere). The reformatting of the page, while making it easier to split the page up, frankly makes this one difficult to read. I just added alot of Pictures to the page. I know their not perfect but they are alot better than just a list of guns. Rockwolf66 04:31, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
May I post addon weapons? (Snakevenom56)
- I'd strongly advise against it. --MattyDienhoff 05:10, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Okay (Snakevenom56)
- Meh? Why not?
- Because: where would it end? I'll just use ArmA's predecessor -- Operation Flashpoint -- as an example. There have been countless addon weapons released for that game, including many different versions of the same weapons, made by different authors at various levels of quality. Should I take screenshots of all of those addon weapons, including multiple examples of the same weapon by different authors, just because I can? No. It's just a massive waste of time and energy and it'll invariably end up being confusing and messy. Most of the game articles on this site are already on thin ice as it is, there's no reason to get ridiculous. --MattyDienhoff 19:10, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- If someone really wants to screencap the weapons listed for this game though, it would be much appreciated. --Markit 02:47, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- I just thought it would be a okay idea, for those who are like "aw, no FAMAS" or "aw, the RPK-74 has a drum mag" and could see there are addons of the guns they may like and RPKs with the correct magazine (Snake)
- Not that i disagree with the "no addon weapons" idea, but the content of the ACE-Mod is really high-quality and is at least on one level with the regular weapons, if not better. With the sheer amount of guns added by this, it would almost deserve an extra page (just like the Battlefield 2 Mod Project Reality has).
Wrong SCARs
Why were example pics of the original first-gen SCARs used when the ones in-game are clearly the current third-gen SCARs? And the long-barreled SCAR-H referred to as an SSR isn't actually an SSR, it's a regular SCAR-H with a long barrel. The SSR has a longer forward receiver. [1] Spartan198 12:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Eotech
In a description, it says the EoTech model is a 552. I don't know what model it is, but it's way too short for a 552 12:13, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Could it be an EoTech 551? Also, sign your posts please. -Chris_Hun7er 12:49, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
The ones on the M4s look like 551s, while the ones on the SCARs look like 553s.--Lynx 13:49, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Correct. The EOTech on the M4 is a 551 and the one on the SCAR is a 553. Spartan198 12:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Operation Arrowhead
Shouldn't Operation Arrowhead have its own page? I believe it is a standalone mod. -Chris_Hun7er 06:32, 30 May 2010
- While it is a standalone mod, it still works with the original ArmA II. A second page for what is essentially the same game is not necessary. Dannysaysnoo - 20:08, 17th of June, 2010
unknown revolver
The unknown revolver in Operation Arrowhead looks like a Taurus Tracker, either a 617, 627 or 44 model. -Saberthechampion 10:30, 28 June 2010
- You're definitely right on the Taurus Tracker part. I looked into what model it was, and the only .45 ACP variant I could find was the Taurus Tracker Model 455, more commonly known as the Taurus Tracker .45 ACP, and is seemingly no longer produced. -Chris_Hun7er 20:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC).
SCAR-H?
Can anyone tell me why the sniper variant of the SCAR-H is listed under the sniper category when it's already in the assault/battle rifle category and why it's listed as the Mk.20 Mod 0? -Chris_Hun7er 02:40, 29 June 2010
- No idea, in game its known as a Mk17 Sniper (Suppressed) must be someone who edited the page and thinks adding a scope to a rifle makes it a 'sniper' scarecrow 20:37, 31 December 2011 (CST)
Lack of animation
Anyone notice that most of the bolt action weapons are completely un-animated? I've only played the demo, but the M24 I used seemed devoid of animation.--Dannysaysnoo 18:13, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, BIS basically said that they didn't work on animations because they weren't high priority and they devoted their time and work force to bug fixes, gameplay improvements, etc. At least the lack of animation doesn't detract from gameplay. -Chris_Hun7er 6:59, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, problem is that they didnt do a good job there either, ArmA II is still one of the buggiest games out there. And its not just the bolt actions that lack animation, every weapon lacks proper reload animations, the character only does some fumbling next to the gun and it magically loads itsself. The addition of the vehicle weapons also added a considerable amount of space.--Markit 17:17, 8 July 2012 (CDT)
- Can't we make the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead page redirect to the OA part of the ArmA 2 page? -Dannysaysnoo 14:08 09/07/2012
Does the ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead stand alone use the standard ARMA II weapons along with the ones in its own section? If so, a page for Operation Arrowhead would end up being about 90% the length of this page, so what is the point? --commando552 08:20, 9 July 2012 (CDT)
- Operation Arrowhead uses basically all the static weapons and vehicles from ArmA II, but with tan paints, and a few new versions. Making the OA page again would be a bit of a waste. Dannysaysnoo 14:23 09/07/2012
If there isn't any other solution, I guess we'll keep the page as it is... --RaNgeR 09:06, 9 July 2012 (CDT)
Suppressor
For the AAC suppressor on the Beretta M9, does it have ironsights built-on in real-life, or is that just something the developers put in? Laqueesha (talk)
Unneeded screenshots
This page seems to have a number of them, like screenshots of some of the aiming reticles. Take these from the M4 and M16A4 entries:
These from the G36 entries:
And these from the XM8 entries:
They all show the exact same thing against different backgrounds. Ten different screenshots showing three optic reticles. Many of these "aim" screenshots could be pruned away without taking away from the page's completion, IMO. Spartan198 (talk) 22:53, 4 June 2013 (EDT)
- I wouldn't mind if it was the same screenshot shared between the scopes. Using the same one might put less strain on loading. Dannysaysnoo (talk) 11:45, 5 June 2013 (GMT)
