The following weapons were used in the film Hidalgo:
Colt Single Action Army
Frank T. Hopkins (Viggo Mortensen) uses a Colt SAA in a crossdraw holster. It is used briefly by Sheikh Riyadh (Omar Sharif) when his camp is being raided during Hopkins race in Saudi Arabia. Due to his lack of firearms knowledge, Riyadh has difficulty using the weapon and is soon taken by Hopkins who uses it to kill off some of the intruders. At the end, Hopkins gives him the revolver as a token of their friendship. The SAA is also seen in the hands of many cavalry and exhibition shooters including Annie Oakley (Elizabeth Berridge) early in the film.
Winchester Rifles
A plethora of Winchester rifles are seen when the US Cavalry are disarming the Native Americans during the Wounded Knee Massacre scene early in the film. A large number of Winchester rifles can be seen in the end when the mustangs were about to be put down.
Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy"
A Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" is seen held by one of the soldiers at the film's conclusion.
Sharps Carbine
A Sharps Carbine is taken by an American officer who tells a native that the 7th Cavalry is the one who is on scene of the Massacre.
Springfield 1873 "Trapdoor" Carbine
The Springfield 1873 "Trapdoor" Carbine is seen in the hands of many US cavalry troops as well as Native Americans at Wounded Knee.
Ottoman musket
Many Ottoman muskets are seen alongside tribesmen of Saudi Arabia.
Lee Enfield
A stack of Lee-Enfields are seen at the British outpost where they refuse to give Hopkins water. One is also used later by Katib (Silas Carson) who tries to shoot Hopkins during his rescue of Jazira (Zuleikha Robinson). Hopkins is able to shoot the hand of Aziz disabling him before he can fire off a shot. This model was not adopted until 1896, 6 years after the film is set.
Webley Mk VI Revolver
The British officer who refused to give water to Hopkins can be seen firing his Webley Mk VI revolver as Hopkins flees after he has taken the water bag. This model of Webley was not introduced until 25 years after the film is set, though it may be standing in for the shorter barrelled Mk I, which was adopted in 1887.
Martini-Henry
Martini-Henry rifles are used by many of the tribesmen throughout the movie. The majority of them are coated with tribal decorations which is often very common for rifles found in Western Asia where the film takes place.
Mle 1892 Revolver
Aziz (Adam Alexi-Malle) picks up a Mle 1892 Revolver from a dead guard during the rescue of Jazira.
